Life's Road

When you're young you can be a dreamer,

And imagine all the things you'd like to do someday

You can picture the perfect life for yourself—

The perfect house, the perfect job, the perfect family

And you can dream about what you will achieve,

Fantasize about what you hope to accomplish.

There are endless possibilities to choose from,

And the road of your life,

Still has many streets leading off it.

When you're an adult, you are more limited.

You have already made choices,

That will affect the course of your life forever.

You can't go back and change them,

Can't retrace your steps and choose another path.

You have already made commitments,

Which bind you tightly to your chosen life

And make it hard for you to change.

When you're young you haven't yet walked the road of life

When you're an adult you can't turn back.
