Chapter One..

The umbrella a sign

Part 1

The rain came down suddenly as amaya stepped out from the school as if it was taunting her. She watch as everybody opened up there umbrellas or share with there friend but, amaya had nobody how would share there umbrella with her. Amaya looked up at the sky as there seem no end to the rain as she knew she better hurry home.

Everybody looks so happy. So peaceful. It's been two-day since I moved here and I haven't made a single friend. This must be a nice way to start off the new school year. She thought to herself as she walked out of the school campus and into the umbrella filled streets.

Amaya knew it wasn't her choice to move to this city neither was it her choice to go to this school. Yet she had no choice in the beginning. She stopped in a store in hopes to dry off a little. Everybody seems to stare at her as she walked to the bathroom. The mirror seemed so show her a wet girl with a pastel pink hair and green eye staring at her reflection as she was soaked to the bone.

The hand dryer seem the perfectly warm as she let it blow at her face as her hair dried. Her cloths dripped upon the floor but it seems to no longer bother her as she rang the edges of her clothing out.

That's better no more dripping. I wonder what those people are thinking about me. 'Is that girl homeless or did she forget her umbrella. Nah I think that poor thing is homeless. How sad. We should probably shoe her out of the store before she takes anything. 'Amaya snickered at that thought as she picked up her black backpack as she walked out at the bathroom to find one of the clerks standing there with a umbrella in hand.

He had blonde hair with on highlighter blue bang and brown eye with green mixed in them. Ayama decide that he was probably heading home because he looked ready to go. She starts to walk past him deciding not to say anything.

"Hay? It's still raining out there. Are you sure you want'ta go out there? "He asked walking up to her.

"Well I don't have an umbrella so I don't think I have a choice." Ayama said staring at him.

"Well you can use mine. I don't live to far from here. You just got to return it when you're done. K? "His words were kind to hear instead of the constant 'Get out of my store,' that seems to always be said on rainy days like this.

"No it okay. I don't need an umbrella. My house is really, really close so It no big. "Ayama tried to convince him not to let her borrow her umbrella.

"No, I insist that you use the umbrella you don't want to catch a cold do you? "He said in a smart laic voice.

"Fine. I guess I have no choice when people put it that way. "Ayama said taking the umbrella that he held out to her.

"Just remember to return it. "He said reminding her again.

"Don't worry I'll bring it back all safe and sound tomorrow. "She said giving him a thumb up.

Ayama walked out of the door opening the umbrella starting to disappear in the distance as the young man watch.

"Hey. You shouldn't help total strangers you know that?" The other clerk asked as he rang up somebody's food.

"I know but, I know she'll also return it to me. "He said smiling as he returns to his post.

"Yasuo, you put to much faith in people."

"I know." Was the only thing yasou said as he rang up someone food.

How was that guy? Does he always help people like that? I should probably return it to him tomorrow and say thank you to him to. After all I was actually lucky to be able to score an umbrella to use. I live so far from the school. She thought to herself as she opened the door to her house, which smelt of cookies and apple pie.

The smell drew ayama into the kitchen to see a sheet of cookies and a slice of apple pie left out on the counter for her with a note.

Dear Ayama,

I hope you had a good day at school and made lots of friends. I have to work late to night so here is a snack for. I'll be home later so you can tell me about school then.

Love,

Mom

Thanks mom and I'm sorry thank I can't make you happy about the friends thing. Ayama thought as she hung the umbrella on the chair and eat her cookies and piece of pie.

Ayama knew that her mother was trying to do the best to raise her but she was never around for ayama though. Which made ayama have to act more adult. After she finishes the food she washes her dishes then cooked some dinner.

"YUmm.. It's time for fish sticks. The most unnutrisonal meal of the day." Ayama sang as she cooked up some fish sticks. Which she snacked on as she did homework.

Science... I wish someone would have torched it! Co2 and blah. I think I'm done for right now. I'll just, answer the rest of the questions then, they're done. Ayama thought as she looked out the window at the pouring rain trying to cling to the glass. Wow it's still raining. Yes! It coming to me! News Flash! School whipped out due to rain no stop.. That would be a great story. Moms always working so hard I still remember when we moved that it was rain also. Owh well.

She couldn't take being confined to her homework anymore it was driving her nut. Instead she grabbed the umbrellas and head out side leaving a note for her mom.

Dear Mom,

I had a great day made a lot of friends. Going for a walk be home in whenever. Don't worry nothing bad gonna happen to me. Owh ya, dinners in microwave there fish stick's. No junk food do you understand?

Love,

Your daughter Ayama.

P.S. If you install my cooking next time well have something I like and you'll have to fend for yourself.

The smell of rain made ayama smile as her feet hit the ground her mind was finally clear from all the thought and troubling feeling. She knew her sox's were getting wet but its no big deal when it came down to it she loved being alone in the rain. Soon she looked up to find that she was at the store. Time seem to have stood still in her mind.

Wow I swear I had 19 more blocks before I reached this store but since I'm here I minus well give that guy his umbrella back after all I came out here to do that before I walk. She thought as she opened the door entering quickly.

She looked at the clerk stand at his register with a smile on his face. She walked up to him.

"Excuse me? Where's the guy how lent me his umbrella when I came in last? "She said trying to sound polite to make sure she would get in trouble.

"Yasuo. His shifts over in one minute till then you can what here. I thought you would be one of the people how would return the umbrella. "The clerk snickers. "Yasuo, your shift is over. He'll be with you in a second.. "The said turning to she ayama putting the umbrella on yasuo's counter and was walked out the door opening her umbrella as she walked away.

Yasuo walked up the clerk. "See ya, then." Yasuo said as he walked toward the door.

"Yasuo. You were wrong about that girl. "Was the only thing the clerk said.

Yasuo whipped around with a troubled look on his face. "What? "He asked in a confused look on his face.

"Why you were the back she brought back your umbrella. She's pretty smart. She knew were you register was. "The clerk said pointing to yasuo's counter were the umbrella was still laying.

He walked over to his register to see if it was turn and there sure enough was his umbrella.

"How long ago did she.."

"Just a few seconds. Gonna chase after her?" The clerk but by that time yasuo was out the door and down the street.

I don't really want to talk to him. I should of wrote a note saying thank you but it to late now. She thought as she walk toward the park instead of back toward her house.

"Hey, wait miss. "Yasuo said trying to catch up with her.

In shock ayama turned around to see yasuo panting. Ayama stared at him panting so hard.

Did he run all that way to just talk to me? And he hasn't even got up his umbrella he soaking went and he was telling I would catch a cold. Ayama thought as she moved the umbrella to cover yasuo how was pant as his hand held him up on his knees.

He looked up at the thing that has come between him and the rain.

"You didn't have to run after me, you know." She said quietly, as she stared down at his sweat covered face.

His eyes got wide and he stared to laugh, so hard the pain showed on his face.

"You know you're a real angel. "He said trying to calm his self down.

Ayama just stood there confused staring at him wondering what was he thinking to come out here in the rain when he doesn't even know who she is.

Idiot. What makes him so self-righteous to come after me when he looks so weak.

"You shouldn't be out here. You sound really sick. "She said in her quite tone again.

His face held a smile that look to frail to touch without damaging it. "You should have stay and waited then I would have to run out here. "He laughed a little. His voice was soft like the feel of baby grass.

"You still should go still.. "She started to say to only get interrupted be yasuo.

"Would you knock it off. I know I am sick but you see, I never meet someone how actually was kind enough to return something I lent them. You're the first that has returned my umbrella. "He said standing up.

"I don't want to have to take you to the hospital if you have an asthma attack. Or what ever is bothering you. "Ayama said look at his face.

"Ha. Is it that easy to see? Yeah I have asthma. Don't worry I'm not gonna have an asthma attack I'm just a little short of breath. "He stared at ayama.

"You're the weirdest person I ever met. You're like an angel except you sound indifferent. I wanted to thank you for returning my umbrella to me. I'm yasuo. What's your name? "He seemed to be really happy to talk to her.

Indifferent? Did he just call me indifferent? And did I just make a friend involuntary?

" I'm... Ayama. "She said taking her umbrella back as he opened his.

"Ayama, Angel. "He said as if he was spacing out.

"Why are you saying angel? "She asked worriedly as she watched him staring up at the sky.

Okay this guy has become scary. I better leave.

"Hnn... Oh please don't leave. I don't mean to come of as scary. It just you are an angel aren't you? "He asked looking straight into her eyes.

To be continued..
