Chapter Eight
Toxic Words
The teacher pushed by Yasou to yell at them to get down before they fell to their deaths. But a daunting feeling told Yasou that was there point to defy everything they could. Ayama didn't speak as she hopped backwards landing on the roof effortlessly as the others fallowed suit without argument. Ayama's short pastel pink hair bounced as she moved. Before he was able to give chase the bell rang and the crowds of people herded like cattle inside the school. Yasou was caught in the middle like a kitten being pulled down stream by a strong current. When he was finally able to break free he found him self in a very strange place of the school. Everything looked run down in bad need of repair compared to the other part of the school he had seen. He ignore his better judgment as he venture deeper in to this darker more wild and unkempt part of the school. The hall ways were dark as the light dimly flickered making it harder to see but he stopped when he thought he heard voices. Following the voices heard he found his self in the door way of an old ran down class room with Ayama and the others in the room sitting on the desks.
"Who do you think you are?" The young lady growled as she looked up at Yasou giving him a 'drop dead before I kill you' look. They young lady's eyes were like daggers locked on to Yasou and he was just the innocent bystander. He swore the air had suddenly snapped with tension of danger and anger.
"I'm Yasou." He said mustering up his own strength enough to say it. "I want to talk to Ayama." He said realizing the more he spoke the braver he felt.
"So what, people in hell want water and they aren't getting that. Anyways what makes you think you can come here uninvited and just start talking to us?" The woman was blunt but had a point this wasn't his home or his area so he should show them respect.
"Sorry I just wanted to talk to Ayama were friends." Yasou said honestly as he let out a defeated sigh to only hear the young man on top of the desk laugh at him. Yasou felt a twinge of anger at him.
"No Jesse is just like that she hasn't taken her happy pills yet to day." The man teased smiling at Jesse who blushed and diverted her attention to empty space. Yasou didn't know what to make of this man who so easily subdued the woman with dagger eyes.
"It's nice to meet you Yasou. I'm Elliot." He said friendly as he hopped off the desk onto his feet in front of Yasou who tried not to jump. Though Elliot sounded nice and looked like a sinner he had a bad feeling about him. Elliot swept his blonde hair out of his face after decided to blind him with it disobedience.
"Yeah.. Could I talk to Ayama alone for a minute?" Yasou asked looking from Ayama to Elliot.
Nodding Elliot waved his to the rest of the group as the stood and followed him out the door. "We're going to class. See ya later Ayama." Elliot said walking down the hall.
"So you do go to my school." Ayama said as she slowly stood up almost with ghostly gracefulness. "Why did you come here don't you have class?" She asked as she walked towards him.
Something about her expression, body language and voice made Yasou feel so bad like she was in pain. Yet he couldn't take his eyes off of her like a perfect disaster about to strike. Having, no clue what to do; he stood still watching hoping she was going to try to attack him.
"Yeah I'm new here. Why don't we go to class?" He asked holding his hand to her trying to hear what she was thinking to only hear nothingness. Yasou couldn't believe anyone could not think and leave there mind an empty shell. It gave him the willies in more then one way.
"Why should I there just going to yell at me." Ayama said standing there he faded eyes looked into his. Yasou didn't know what had come over him but now he didn't feel it was such a good idea to take her into the class room like this. They would probably have committed her to a mental hospital and Yasou was really sure he didn't want to go there.
"Then do you just want to wait here?" Yasou asked worriedly trying to understand Ayama's thoughts.
"You left yesterday without telling me. You just ran off and I tried to find you because you didn't look well. But you were gone and then I bumped into Ran." Ayama didn't look to happy with yesterdays events.
"Sorry." Yasou apologized feeling bad for making her worry so much. "I didn't know you would be that worried about me if so I would have told you I was going home because I didn't feel too great." He said being honest just leaving out things that she didn't need to know right now.
"Forget it. Your brother Ran is really a nice guy he told me to McDonalds." She said looking passed him into the hallway like he didn't even exist. It made him feel bad that she was acting so strange.
"Why are you acting so strange?" He asked reaching for her to only pull away as if she was zeroing in back on earth from outer space.
"I'm not supposed to be in school today I was suspended for speaking my opinion against what they were teaching. The were talking about history and angels stuff I was trying to tell them that angels are suppose to be genderless but due to the fact there are less people dying and go to heaven god gave them there genders back so he could have arms to protect the gates of heaven." Ayama said her eyes now locked seriously onto his like a predator on it prey.
"Angels are genderless." Yasou corrected not sure where she got these thought but he was determined to find out. "Who told you that stuff?" He asked wanting to settle this right now because who ever was spreading these thoughts was insulting angels.
"Santa clause." She said a little angrily that he would make her feel so stupid about what she knew and he didn't.
Yasou looked irritated at her now he knew she wasn't going to give him any names and just make a mockery of him. Though he decided to try again but use his mental power's to read her mind. "Come on tell me."
"Easter bunny." Ayama said giving him a devilish grin finding it more fun to aggravate Yasou. Yet what really got him was what he heard going through her head.
I'm not afraid of putting the gun in my hand I'm just afraid of it hurting like hell. The lyrics danced through Ayama's head like to dancers perfect dancing in sync as they were just puppet to the music.
Yasou mentally pulled back as he felt as the thought or that music made his wings shutter under his skin giving off sharp shots of pain through his body. Unable to stop the pain Yasou doubled over and collapsed onto the ground.
Ayama gently picked him up the best she could as she started through the hallways to the nurse's office. Finally she decided to stop and just take him to the roof were some fresh air might just do him some good. Even though Yasou was unconscious he could feel being moved and hear Ayama's heart beat. He wished he could have been a bigger help but at this moment he couldn't wake up for the life of him. Then his heart leaped when he suddenly felt a burst of air against him and knew he was outside. He really needed to wake up he started to panic as he willed his self to move as he felt him self still moving forward. Yasou really didn't want to jump off or fall off the roof when he wasn't awake to fly. Ayama's hands were gentle and warm against his skin as he could feel her lower him down and his body relaxed.
"I don't know if you can hear me but I'm putting you on the bench up here to rest. Reason is you to heavy to carry to the nurse's office." She said softly as gently took his unkempt bangs out of his face so he could sleep.
Thank you. Yasou thought before everything went black into the dream world but this time he didn't dream of hellions and angels this time he dreamt of a place he'd never been to before. It was night was he was in a huge field resting his head on someone lap. The person looked like Ayama but he was sure it wasn't Ayama. The woman played with his hair gently as she looked up at the stars.
"Rayf. What are we going to do? School ending and you're going to college out of state while I'm stuck here. I really want to go with you." She asked as her voice reminded him of an angel.
"Listen if it's meant to be then we'll be together no matter what life hands use." He said reaching up touching her face gently.
"But if we die then we won't remember how each other are." She said distantly as she bit her lip unhappily.
"What's that suppose to mean?" He asked sitting up looking her in the eyes in disbelief.
"I heard things talking." She whispered like if they could easily be over heard.
Yasou jumped up as if a jolt from a bad dream to find Ayama with a hose as it spilled water. He wasn't too happy about the sudden wake up from a strange and yet very familiar dream.
"What was that for?" He grumbled as he sat up looking around to find he was on the roof.
"You were having a nightmare. I was trying to wake you up." She said walking over to the faucet of the hose and turned it off. "Sorry. Next time you're having a nightmare I won't wake you up." She said throwing him a towel to wipe off his face.
Catching the towel he wiped off his face till it was dry. "Thanks." He said as he stood up realizing how tired Ayama looked. Sighing Yasou decided to help her because she looked lost even though it was hard to see.
"It's lunch time. Let's go to the cafeteria." Ayama said walking towards the door way waiting for him to hurry.
"Ayama do you believe in angels?" Yasou asked standing up as he started toward the door way.
"Like a believe love, friendship, and the unknown can kill someone." She said walking passed him make Yasou stop. He swore he head heard the line but not sure were from. But he ran down the stairs after her. For some reason the word felt like toxic as it burned it's self into his mind.
