I shall sing a song of shadow
In the twilight, on paths of tears;
Of hope that hides in flowing sorrow,
Of aching solace in the stars.
I'll embrace this shady evening,
This fading age of a wilting world.
Beyond the sunset, the Sea is sighing;
In dusky valleys, a Voice is heard...
Foaming waves lay yet between us,
Twixt starlit land and aching glades,
But I'll not leave these woven trees
Until laughter dies, and all hope fades.
For night shall fall, the dream will stir,
The stars shall all alight:
And I will walk on paths of memory,
And sing a song of twilight.
