Author note: This is a cheesy little formulaic poem that I had to write. Every now and then, you just have to indulge the cat that is shoving its way onto your desk to block your view of the screen and try to rub his face on your figners while you type...

"Poem for My Cat"

I wish I was an Auggie

So I could sleep all day

On plush, soft blue pillows

Near the person I loved the most in the world

I wish I was an Auggie

So I was sooo orange

And everyone loved me

Even though I'd hide under tables when they came near me

I wish I was an Auggie

So I could purr very loudly

And people would always know

When I was happy or content with their company

I wish I was an Auggie

So I could always find someone

Who would show me all the attention I desired

And be glad to give it because I was paying attention to them

I wish I was an Auggie

So I could find the best spots of sunshine

Knead the best laps

And show unconditional love to the best people

I'm glad I'm not an Auggie

So I can have the cat

That can do all of the above
