"Congratulations, you have a healthy baby girl." Said one of the nurses who helped deliver the baby, laying the newborn in her mothers awaiting arms.

The new mother gently pulled back the blanket that was covering her daughter's face, and a smile grew on her face when she saw her. "She's so beautiful. Charles, come see our new daughter." She said, when she saw her husband standing in the doorway of the hospital room and over to the doorway of the hospital room. Charles walked into the room and over to the bed where his wife and new daughter were laying. "How are you feeling, Claire?" He asked.

"I'm fine, just a little tired. Would you hold her so I can sit up?" She asked. "Sure Claire. Do you want me to get you anything?" he asked, looking at his new beautiful daughter.

"Mr. and Mrs. Andrews, have you decided on a name for your daughter?" Asked the nurse, who had a clipboard in her hand and was writing on it.

"Melody. Melody Christine Andrews." Replied Claire casting a glance at her husband and daughter. Melody had fallen asleep in her daddy's arms. Charles set the sleeping infant in the nursery at the hospital, and went to the cafeteria to get some lunch for himself and Claire.

When he came back into the room, Claire was asleep, so Charles ate his lunch quietly and picked up a book that his wife was reading earlier. He read for about half an hour, until the nurse came back into the room with a hungry, crying Melody, handed her to Claire and left again quietly. Claire fed Melody and ate some of her lunch, and saved some for later, because she wasn't really hungry.

Claire's sister, Marcie and Sara, Claire and Charles' six-year-old daughter, came by to see them. "Did you have fun sleeping over at Aunt Marcie's house?" Charles asked Sara, as he picked her up.

"Yes, but I missed you and mommy. When can mommy and the baby come home with us, daddy?" Sara asked, excited that she was a big sister now.

Claire said, "I think we might come home tomorrow, and we might be able to go out for ice-cream. Would you like that, Sara?"

"Yes mommy. Can I see the new baby now daddy?" She asked, squirming to get down. "Please?" She begged.

"Alright." Said Charles, and set her down. She walked over to her mom who was holding Melody.

"Would you like to hold your sister?" Claire asked Sara, showing her how to hold her new sister.

"Do you mind if I take some pictures, Claire?" Asked Marcie.

"No, I don't mind." Said Claire.

"I have a camera you can use, but it's in the car." Said Charles, picking up Sara off the bed, and putting her on his shoulders. When they came back, Sara and Melody got their picture taken, then Claire and Melody then Charles and Melody.

Claire held Melody in her arms, while Charles held Sara on his lap, while Marcie took a picture of their family.

After a roll of film was used up, Marcie and Sara had leave to pick up Danae, Marcie's 8-year old daughter, from school, and Claire decided to rest. Melody started to cry wanting to be fed just as Claire was almost asleep. Charles picked up his daughter and handed her to Claire then started reading the book out loud, that he had been reading when Aunt Marcie and Sara came. Claire rested her head on the pillow and looked out the window.

A little while later, Charles looked over at Claire, who was asleep, so he put the book down, and quietly turned off the lights after putting Melody back into her hospital bed, and laid on the bed with Claire, holding her in his arms.
