Recap:

Lave jumped away from it and was about to leave when she noticed a change in the creature. Its eyes began to burn blue. The hole began to shrink, and its face turned slowly human like. At the end of its transformation a young man of about 19 was lying in the water. It coughed and sat up. He looked around bewildered and turned to Lave.

Chap 2: The Wanderer

Nearing exhaustion, a young man stumbled blearily into a cave. "Cecil!" He rasped, "Go out and find water." Cecil nodded as he stumbled from the cave in search of a stilled river. As he left he also muttered to himself under his breath. The young man however, was too tired to care. He and his companion, Cecil, had been traveling for many days and only reached the forest the day before. They were here to find the source of, what the people had begun to call Scamilions, hideous creatures who killed in brutal ways.

He must have fallen asleep for he awoke to Cecil's frantic screaming. He sat up and blinked stupidly, "What happened?"

"I've seen it… The Scamilion. Hundreds!"

"What? That doesn't make sense? You've seen hundreds but you've only seen one?"

"Sorry. No there are hundreds and I've seen the one we were hunting."

"How can you tell them apart?" Not answering the question Cecil ran over to the young man. "We have to leave! I've found the source. A huge castle." The man stood and brushed the dirt from his coat. "All right… let's be on our way."

The two walked out of the cave. The man was stunned to see how fast night had fallen. He followed Cecil his suspicion growing. How had Cecil managed to tell the Scamilions apart? And how had he found the castle? He shrugged it off. Cecil must have gotten lucky with the castle and lied with the Scamilion. After all, Cecil could barely tell left from right. The walk seemed too long and the path they were using was too run down. All of the sudden, realization came upon him.

"The path is very long. I was only asleep for…" He muttered a simple spell and a timer appeared, "A half hour. Why night fell so quickly I do not know. However, how could you have traveled this road so quickly? We have been traveling for at least 40 minutes. You never could have gone to the castle and back."

"Well…I…You see." He stuttered.

"You have betrayed me. You knew this was here." He pulled out his bow said 3 words for accuracy and shot. His aim was true. Cecil fell over dead. The moment he died the young man shook his head. Cecil was blind. How would he not know that his plan wouldn't be revealed? And even if he hadn't noticed the wizard (for the man realized he must be behind it) would never let him live. To betray a life long friend. The man felt remorse that he had to kill him. He was so involved in his thoughts that he didn't notice the small, purple, spindly creature climb out of Cecil's mouth and take flight till too late.

The young man paled. It was a messenger. He would be over run with scamilions in minutes. He began to run knowing it was useless. A hand closed on his throat. He closed his eyes waiting for the final blow. But it did not come. He was being carried into a room. A tall man was standing next to a chair grinning. The man looked old, too old. His eyes burning blood red like the scamilions. However, he possessed a sense of self control. He was controlling the demon who gave him life. Not the demon controlling him. Only an extremely powerful wizard could control a demon.

"Hello Hebst." The young man said.

"Hello Kael. I've been waiting for you."
