A/N: Hey again. Still nothing on the review front, a few hits, though. So, someone is stumbling onto this one. Well, I hope you enjoy.

Oh just a quick note about formatting. The site is doing something weird in document manager when I try to upload this. It's not allowing me to fix it up. So, if there's an issue with the formatting that's why. I've emailed support, but you know how that is…

Chapter 28:

Matthew sat down heavily, between Hugh and Jacob. It was the first intermission of game three versus Detroit. And, despite being on home ice, the first period was not going very well.

"We're down two goals," Coach McTavish spoke to the somber room. "But you know it could be worse. They easily had three other good chances. We could have been down five goals!"

The coach paused, letting that thought sink in. Matthew was reminded of the giveaway he had in the neutral zone. It had led to one of the two goals Detroit had scored. He was determined to not let that happen again.

"The only reason we're not losing five nothing is because of Tony." Everyone turned to look at their goalie. Tony looked back sheepishly. "Now, defense, we need to take away some of their shots. And forwards, we need more shots! It's not rocket science. We need to get back into this game!

"We've got five minutes to go, hydrate and get ready," the Coach said gruffly.

Matthew let out a heavy sigh and took a sip of his water.

"Don't worry, man. We'll get them back."

Matthew looked up to see Tony standing in front of him.

Matthew shrugged his shoulders. "Yeah, I guess."

Tony shook his head furiously. "Not, I guess. We will."

He looked up at his friend; the look of determination on Tony's face was suddenly contagious. "You're right," Matthew said, adamantly. "Let's get out there and win this thing!"

Matthew still couldn't believe it as he unlocked the door to his apartment. He stepped inside and dropped his keys on the hall table. They had won. They had beat Detroit even after that dismal first period.

Tony hadn't let any more goals in after the two in the first and Jacob, Hugh and Ryan had added three goals to their previous zero. Matthew had even redeemed himself, assisting on Jacob's goal and helping to make the play on Hugh's. All in all it was a good night. Now he had to look forward to the next game.

Matthew stepped into his bedroom; he was exhausted. He started to unbutton his shirt. He needed a nice, long hot bath. But before he could get any further his phone rang. He reached onto his night stand and picked up the phone.

"Hello?"

"Congratulations!" came Aiko's excited voice.

Matthew chuckled. "Aiko, hi. I take it you watched the game."

"Yep, every single second of it. And let me tell you I was a little worried after that first period, but you guys definitely came back and kicked some butt."

"I think we were depending on Tony too much. But we figured it out and made some adjustments," Matthew talked hockey with her. "He's a number one goalie, but he can't do everything."

"Well I'm glad you guys remembered that," Aiko stated fondly. "You're probably exhausted. I just wanted to call, hear your voice. I should probably let you go."

"What? That's it?" Matthew questioned her abruptness. "A two minute conversation with my favorite person?"

"I just wanted to let you know I'm happy for you, and that I love you," she explained.

"Well, thanks. I love you too," he said dryly. "But this relationship thing goes two ways. How's everything with you? Anything new since you got back?"

"Oh!" he heard her exclaim. "I totally forgot, the director of the episode called. They've bumped up taping to tomorrow."

"Aiko!" Matthew said, surprised. "You totally forgot that? That's big news!"

Aiko chuckled. "I guess I got so caught up in your game tonight. It pushed everything else out of my mind."

"Well, how do you feel?"

"I think… good. Yeah, I feel good about it," she said, gaining confidence as she spoke. "I'm ready."

"Well, I think you're going to be amazing. I can't wait to see you on TV. When does it air?"

"Pretty quick. May, I think. It's one of the last few episodes of the season," she replied. "And the best part is, I'll be done quicker. So I can get to go to a few more of your games."

"That's awesome, Aiko. It's been a great day," he stated affectionately.

"Yeah, definitely."
