Richard Xiao
Silent Cafe
Creaky swings sway in the breeze
Vast open fields with no people to fill them
The roar of kids fill the air
I sit down at my regular table
My friends and I talk amongst ourselves
unaware of what is to happen the next minute
Moonlight peers through the dark tunnels
Leaves slightly shuffle on the trampoline
Out of the corner of my eye
Orange and white and green
All the colors blur together
A ranch-covered stick of carrot
flies from his hands
and soars through the air
It lands on someone's chest
His eyes flare blood red
Distant crickets are heard
chirping softly
