Choice
I stand alone,
In a dark hallway lined with doors.
They creak open and beckon me,
Yet I don't know where to turn.
A faint light shines
From behind each door,
Yet I cannot see beyond them.
Once I step through,
And the door swings shut,
It will lock itself up tight,
And leave me trapped
In the world behind it.
What lies beyond the doors?
I cannot tell.
Whether it be good or bad,
I cannot tell.
I'm scared to take a chance
I'm scared to make a choice
I can't stay in the hall forever,
But I don't know which door to choose.
If only it were easy,
If only I could see beyond,
If only I could know
What lies behind the doors.
If only I could choose!
