A smile:

All I ask.

So simple,

Yet so hard to muster.

Tears fall at the pain of the attempt.

It takes too much to hide the grief,

The guilt that lies inside

Gnawing at the guts of us all,

The need to run and hide

When we know we soon shall fall.

How do we tell the world

When the world tells us it is too late?

Where can we turn

When faced with deadly fate?

The need to talk to others,

Yet strength is found alone.

The knowledge that we are lost.

And will never return home.
