Chapter 1

Chantal is a pretty interesting girl. She never knew what had happened to her mother and father though after that night when she'd been in a concert at school. All that Chantal knew was that it had transformed her from being a girl with a wonderful life to a girl living a horrible life. Chantal had instantly been publicly taken out of the concert and led towards her home where her mother, Esther Reeve, and her father Jacob Reeve, were found dead. There was not an ounce of blood left in their bodies. The first thing that Chantal thought of when she had seen the bodies was that there was a vampire on the lose. Of course, vampires always sucked blood. That was an easy solution to come by. It was also a terrifying one. Vampires? In Esterwoods County New York? No Chantal doubted it completely. She even doubted it before the police laughed at her childish thoughts. Well it was not her fault that she had the major obsession of vampires. She did anything to get her parents to buy her a new vampire or any other horror book at the bookstore.

Chantal however had no idea she was in one. She didn't know that when she looked in her own bedroom she would find her brother Stevie dead right next to her overloaded candy box with his hand still outstretched in mid-motion. Chantal shivered. That wasn't how it was supposed to work. When she saw Stevie's body she was surprised she didn't go insane then.

Chantal was instantly shipped away to her terrible alcoholic Uncle Webster Dillon. He came from Chantal's mother's side of the family. Chantal hated her mother for having such a terrible brother such as Webster Dillon. Her poor mother. Esther Dillon. She had been stuck being like a slave. Uncle Web was a bossy man. He was also retarded but not quite nerdy like Herman Brown. Chantal figured that if you needed to find a synonym for nerd it would probably be Webster Dillon. She laughed a little whenever the thought came across her mind.

As Chantal walked out of her now deserted house she began to hear a tune. It came from nowhere. It was terrifying and Chantal couldn't make it out. The tune had it's familiarities. Then it came. It was the tune to Amazing Grace. What an interesting tune to pick, Chantal thought dazedly as she walked to the police car. Nobody else seemed to hear the tune. Chantal could have sworn then that the tune was going to drive her crazy. She began singing it in her head. I once was lost but now am found. Twas blind but now I see. She shivered madly as she got into the car. The tune followed her all the way to her new home. She could have sworn then too that it was the work of the devil upon her and her family. When she knocked on the door to Uncle Web's house there was not even the slightest movement beyond from his fat bottom.

Chantal kept on knocking and knocking and knocking and knocking. Finally the policeman just pushed the door open. Inside was a terrifying sight and no mistake. Tables were turned over and lamps were shattered on the floor and lying on his fat ass in the middle of all that shatteredness of his house lay Uncle Webster Dillon. He was dead. That wasn't hard to tell. He was as dead as a doornail. Chantal didn't even cry. She rather smiled. You probably would have considered her a maniac but she wasn't. She was just glad to be rid of a man so evil and demanding as Webster Dillon.

"I guess we're going to have to look around for a relative," said the policeman. Chantal somehow knew though that there were no relatives left. Well at least there were none that were going to be willing enough to take her in. The policeman went outside. Chantal meant to follow but then she heard the twinkling sort of jewelry box tune of Amazing Grace again.

She stood there mesmerized in the midst of all the evils and direst things that were yet to happen in her life. She stood there way too long however. The thing that had killed her Uncle and the thing that had killed her family advanced on her silently with the tune still ringing through her ears. The last thing Chantal heard was one line, one terrible line, that the creature said to all who died.

"I once was alive but now am dead. Had blood but now it's gone." Chantal Reeve did not even have time to scream.

A/N: What do you think so far? Is it creepy enough to continue? Let me know. I hope you enjoy it so far. What do you think the creature is and what do you think it looks like? What do you think's going to happen next? Review please-Jemima
