A/N: Hey I'm back with a flash. Yah, don't know what's going on with my other two stories, but this one is one I've had in my head for a while, so I thought I'd put it down, so . . .
Here it goes . . .
My Little Secret
By: Weeping Silver ('Never let any one tell you you're abnormal, look at them and say "Define Normal"'-ME)
Eva collapsed on her bed and glared at the ceiling. She willed it to turn purple, and when that didn't work she tried orange . . . green . . . cyan anything but the bland "eggshell" white it was. She missed her old room at her dad's house. That had been her room. It held everything near and dear to her; pictures, paintings, old school projects, each one put specifically on the wall to create almost a time line of her life. She loved that room. Now that wasn't her room any more, just a place to stay a few days in the summer when she would gets to visit her dad. This whitewash walls, and eggshell white ceiling was her room now; with blank walls because her step-dad Kevin thought that her pictures and painting from her father's house were 'Satanic' when they really were African. She sighed and turned on to her stomach. She missed her father, and their house in L.A., she missed all her friends; Dilyn, no matter how annoying he could get, Gabi, who got her name for a reason, but most of all she missed her brother Ash, and her boyfriend Zakai, they were the world to her, and now she's lucky to talk to them once a day, let alone actually seeing them. That what happens when you move all the way across the country to Ohio. Oh God, Ohio, had to be the most boring state ever. It was full of cows and hicks that thought they were gangsters.
Eva heard footsteps click on the hard wood floor and knew immediately that her mother was home. Seconds later her door opened and the devil herself walked in.
"Hello Eva, how was your day?" Roni Keller was not the smartest person on earth, Ph.D. or not Eva's mother had no common sense, because if she did she wouldn't ask the same question every day and get the same answer every time.
"Lousy, I hate the school, and the state and living here, oh and did I mention the fact that I hate you!" Eva growled.
"Eva, living her cannot be that bad. Give it time and try, every thing well turn out right." And with that Roni left.
Eva reached over to her bed side table and grabbed her cell phone and speed dialed her brother. She needed insanity, her mother and her mother's life was way too sane.
He brother picked up with his usual response, "Hott and gorgeous here, how can I help you?"
"You can start answering you phone like a normal human for starters." She snapped. Eva could almost see her brother smile, it had been over 4 weeks since Eva had moved in with their mom and that was the last time she saw Ash.
"EVA! Hey how's it going? How's bores-vill. I hear it's pretty bad in cow country."
Eva laughed, "Ohio is like your bed room Ash, absolutely no action."
"Hey, I resent that." He laughed, "So," he said in a more serious voice. "How are you holding up?"
Eva sighed, she knew what he was talking about and it wasn't the move; it was why she moved her. "I'm doing Ok. I miss you and Zakai."
"We miss you too, believe me our pranks aren't half as good without you to mastermind them."
"That might be because you two are the most uncreative pare of nitwits I've ever known." Eva laughed. "How's Zak doing?"
"Crazy as ever," Ash replied. "Meet any new people?"
"No, every one here hates me because I'm new and I'm related to the two biggest dorks in history, even if they are only my step-siblings." She growled.
"Are Michelle and Ryan really that bad? When we meet them at Mom's wedding they seemed okay."
"They throw study parties, who throws a party where all you do is study?" Eva rolled her eyes remembering how they invited her to the last one and how it was so boring she fell asleep in the middle of it. Needless to say they were not happy.
"Hey, they probably have higher grades then you."
"Then you have study groups not parties! And the only people who come are Michelle, Ryan and their pimply faced twig of a friend David. Ug, I hate it here. The regular parties are just as bad. They're boring, bad music, bad drinks. I wanna-"
"Zak, what the hell are you doing?!" Ash interrupted Eva, obviously talking to Zakai who had just come into the room, sort of. "That's a window not a door, what the crap are you coming in the window for anyways?" Ash paused as he got an answer, which he replied to, "Then ring the fucking door bell, you asshole don't break into my house!"
Eva laughed; she could just imagine Zakai climbing through the window because the front door was locked. That was so like him. She loved Zakai's craziness; he would take her to do the most fun things, like the time he took her to the Grand Canyon and they rode on donkeys down to the bottom. Her ass was numb for days but it was beautiful and she has yet to see anything that even compares.
Eva was rudely torn from her thoughts by her brother's loud obnoxious voice. "Serves you right dumb ass!"
Eva heard a loud clang followed by Zakai's voice, "I'm okay, don't worry!"
"No one cares," Ash muttered to himself. Zakai asked something that Eva couldn't quiet make out but she assumed that it was who was on the phone when her brother replied, "Eva, but-"
The phone was ripped out of Ash's hands, and Zakai's voice replaced Eva's brother. "Eva! Baby, how ya' doin'?" Eva smiled at his voice; it was good to hear it. Zakai was the one person other then her brother that she truly missed. He could make her laugh like no one else and she really needed that at a time like this.
"Hey, Zak, I'm hanging in there." Eva replied.
"Well go out and have fun, sweet heart. Stop hanging and live, as hard as that might be without me."
Eva rolled her eyes, "That was so corny I think I'm gonna puke."
"Hey!" Zakai replied. "I thought that was pretty ingenious."
"No it sounds like a line out of one of Ash's bad movies." Zakai laughed. Eva smiled; his laughter was so soft, it was one of her favorite sounds. "Speaking of which, did you get that part you addition for?"
"Donno," He said, "Haven't got a call back from my agent. I think I got it though after all, who wouldn't want a hott stud like me staring in their next film."
Eva made an exasperated noise. "My God, you're as bad as my brother!"
"Hey, when you spend 14 hours a day 5 days a week with some one, you start to pick up habits. Don't worry, give it another three weeks and I'll have your brother climbing through windows and getting his foot stuck in the garbage disposal too."
"No he won't!" Eva could hear Ash yell in the background.
Eva laughed. "Zak, you got your foot stuck in the sink! God that's so like you!"
"What can I say, I predictable." Eva smiled.
"Not predictable just stupid." She heard Ash add in the background.
The only thing predictable about Zakai was that he was unpredictable, and that was what made Eva fall in love with him in the first place. Back in L.A. she and Zakai had dated for a while, but they broke up when Eva had to move in with her mom. They both thought that it would be better that way, despite the fact that they both still love each other; they knew the consequences of a long distance relationship.
"So," Zakai asked bring Eva back to Earth, "Convert any people to the dark side yet?"
Eva laughed, "No not yet. Everyone thinks that the light side is so much better then the dark side."
"They don't know what their missing." Zakai paused as if thinking before saying, "You could causal mention that you know me that would turn a few heads. Don't mention your brother though that won't do much."
"My name would probably cause more of a reaction then yours, thank you very much. I was voted hottest guy of the week three times." Ash's voice joined Eva's and Zakai's on the phone.
"What the hell Ash!" Zakai cried in fake indifference. "What if we were having phone sex!? That was very rude," He hurramphed. "And I was voted hottest four times, so there."
"Shut up. I've been standing next to you the whole time, I'd think I'd know if you were having phone sex and that's my little sister you're talking about so watch it buster."
"I'm a big girl Ash; I can take care of myself thank you."
"Anyways," Zakai said. "Drop my name, and I'm sure you'll get a lot of friends really fast."
"Ignoring the fact that anyone will actually believe me, I don't want all the fakeness that comes with being a movie star." Eva replied.
"Hey," Ash's voice was slightly muffled as if he was eating something. "Who you calling fake?"
"Excuse me! Your Job is to pretend to be something you not!"
"You've got a point." Ash's voice was back to normal.
"That's not fake!" Zakai interjected. "That's acting!"
"That's the definition of acting you ass-tard!" Ash's voice was muffled again and this time Eva could hear him chewing.
"What the shit are you eating, Ash?" Eva asked.
"Watch your mouth young lady," Zakai said in a mocking mother-knows-all voice that only Zakai could do.
"Roast beef sandwich." Ash replied ignoring Zakai.
"I can swear if I want to," Eva said ignoring Ash, and stuck out her tough. Upon realizing that they couldn't see her, settled on, "You mother was a hamster and . . ."
"Your father smelt of elder berries!" The three teenagers finished in unison.
"I love that movie!" Zakai laughed.
"We know," The siblings choused.
A knock on Eva's door abruptly halted the conversation. "Hold on a second." She said into the phone, "Come in." Her door creaked open and Michelle's head popped in.
"Dinner time," Michelle said.
"Okay be down in a minute." She told Michelle, and then turned her attention back to the conversation at hand. "Hey, I've got to go to dinner, talk to you later."
"See ya, later sis." Ash hung up so the young lovers, as he liked to refer to them as, could say their 'tearful' good bye.
"It was really good to hear form you, Eva." Zakai said, "I really miss you."
"Yah, I know. I miss you too." She smiled. "Love you Zak, talk too you later."
"Love you too. Bye." Zakai hung up the phone but Eva stayed on for a little bit longer happy that she got to talk to the two of them, just like old times, before the incident.
Eva hung up the phone and rolled over to see Michelle still at the door. "What the crap Michelle, this is my room."
"Who were you talking to?" She asked, ignoring the question.
"My brother and my friend Zakai, if you need to know." She snapped glaring at her 18 year old step-sister.
"Zakai Anderson!" She squealed. "Like the actor!"
Eva rolled her eyes, "Just because I live in L.A. doesn't mean I know every goddamn famous person out there." She didn't want to tell Michelle who her brother or boy- well ex-boyfriend was. Eva knew that Michelle would go and tell the whole school how she was related to Ashley Brunings, and how she knew Zakai Anderson, the two hottest actors in Hollywood at the moment. She pushed Michelle and head down to another boring dinner. Another boring end to another boring day, in her extremely boring life.
God how she missed L.A.
