Prologue
The Nightmare Phenomena
Some people believe that every person's spirit is split into two halves: the Nightmare Spirit and the Dream Spirit. Both are looked upon as deities. Apparently, the Nightmare Spirit is what gives us our nightmares, our violent streaks, paranoia, and everything else that can go nastily wrong with a personality. It feeds on our feelings of fear, our feelings of sadness and our feelings of insecurity. Whenever you're sitting alone in the darkness and you get that sudden feeling of terror and the hairs on your neck stand up, and every little sound makes you jump, that's your Nightmare Spirit getting its kicks. Sometimes it's like a poltergeist. It needs you to be scared sometimes. It needs you to cry sometimes.
As for the Dream Spirit, well, let's just say it's the complete opposite of our Nightmare-friend. This benevolent spirit is responsible for feelings of love, joy, excitement, hope… This spirit doesn't feed from our emotions at all. All it needs is for its body to be in a happy or content state of mind.
Neither of these Spirits actually shares the body with the soul.
They remain in their own worlds.
The Two Talloses.
Some people worship these Talloses. They do not have shrines or churches, instead just a stone pillar with several small engravings on it. There are several hundred of these sets of pillars, said to be scattered around the world.
People worship them in order to keep both deities at bay.
No one knows what would happen if either of these Spirits managed to materialise into this world. Perhaps a Dream deity would bring world peace and a cure for all diseases and cancers? Perhaps a Nightmare deity would wreak havoc and mischief, and even bring the apocalypse? No one knew.
Personally I have never believed in such deities as neither of them have materialised in the history of the world. I needed proof. I needed evidence they existed in order to believe in them. Yet none of these 'mighty spirits' have ever managed to set foot on earth.
Until now…
And they call it "The Nightmare Phenomena."
