A/N: I only kept this poem to remind me of what happens when I procrastinate. My mom signed me up for a poetry slam, and for a whole week i bitched about it...but of course, mothers have a way of guilt-tripping you, so I ended up doing it. I made it to the final round, reading this poem first. Meh. Funny story is, day before the poems were due, I had to whip this thing up. I started at 9 in the morning...didn't finish till 10 and night. I took a few breaks...okay, so maybe more than a few. But whatever.

The Road to Tomorrow

By Mandy Chan

There's a road to tomorrow, it's part of this "today",

we tackle this road at the start of each new day

The road veers and plummets,

It makes us slip and makes us slide,

But the road just keeps on going,

no matter how we feel inside.

Life's a long journey,

an adventure in every way,

But this is one voyage,

That we should stomach day by day.

Our actions, our thoughts, our words change our fate,

They set us up for what's to come,

Be it good or bad at any rate.

There will always be some choices,

And your path may split away,

But you might just hear the voices,

Calling you back when you begin to stray.

We are all walkers, walking different paths of life,

And for each of us the road to tomorrow,

Brings us different strife.

This is the road to tomorrow,

Though the paths may veer different ways,

This is the road to tomorrow,

Choose wisely and don't go astray.

This is the road to tomorrow,

There aren't any guided tours,

And now you're on a road to tomorrow,

I've made my choice. Make yours.
