We Were There

We were there.
By the beach, I remember it
so well. You stood there
watching the sand slip through your fingers
as I brushed my flyaway hair back.

We were alone.
It was raining, but we didn't care
the sand still slipped,
the wind still blew,
our hearts still skipped that beat,
whenever we looked at the other.

No-one told us, and we didn't know
but we were falling in love.
I fell for years, I'm still falling;
everytime I feel your touch I'm reborn.
You changed my life.

We were there, at the beach
three years ago.
We're still young, but I'm wearing white
and I've never felt so scared, yet so fearless.
