Title: Sensitive Pornography
Chapter one: Casual Breakdown
"I'm so fricking bored." I swirled the bit of coffee I had left around in my cup. My eyes roamed over the coffee shop. My friends had urged me to ditch working and deadline I was trying to make for a new story idea, to go out with them. However, they had boyfriends, and that meant that I would get ditched. So, I sitting alone behind a service desk at a coffee shop was a lot better than being alone at a bar.
I lowered my eyes and took another taste of the coffee, that five tastes ago I decided was ice cold and disgusting. I frowned. I knew I was alone for a reason. My sadistic nature and busy schedule always kept my love life at a stand still. I mean, someone whose usual home attire is sweatpants, a baggy shirt, and reading glasses, isn't exactly 'hot stuff.'
I was frustrated. I didn't want to work that night. It went ten o'clock and the coffee shop was open until midnight. I put my head in my hands and fumed. Who goes to get coffee at or after ten o' clock?
"Um…are you alright?"
I looked up, hitting my head on the cash register. Instantly, I reverted to fourteen year old school girl mode. I was face to face with a male who looked about twenty or a little younger. He had gentle blue eyes that seemed to almost be laughing at me, while pallid blonde locks were cut fairly short and tucked gently behind his ears. My voice became stuck in my throat as I saw his attire. He wore a black shirt that was exceedingly tight and exposed his midsection, and a pair of jeans that rode low on his hips, only being held up by a black leather belt with small silver loops dangling. I could feel my cheeks heating up. What kind of guy was that comfortable with his sexuality?
"I…I don't…I…" I fidgeted, and then looked down, fumbling for words.
"You work here right? Or…are you closed? The sign said open until midnight." He furrowed his brow and rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. His pants went down a little lower and I couldn't help but stare.
"I…I work here." I managed to straighten myself up enough to give a false representation of control.
"Okay, I'd like a low-fat latte made with soy milk and a soy blueberry muffin, please." He gave a little grimace as he ordered and handed me exact change. I turned the coffee machine, then him.
"You're lactose intolerant?" I asked.
"Oh…huh…yeah." He gave a charming smile. "There's only so much soy I can take…I'll crack one day."
He chuckled and I gave a blush that was lost against my chocolate brown skin. I merely smiled, begging to get out of such an awkward situation.
"Ah, okay. Coming right up." I stepped into the back and he took a seat at a table. I couldn't deny the fact that he was gorgeous. Of course, there were a lot of gorgeous guys in London, it didn't' mean that I was going to get anywhere with any of them. As quickly as possible, I prepared the muffin and the coffee, and brought it back out to him.
"Fast service. Thanks a lot." He sipped the coffee, and then glanced at me. "Would you care to join me?"
"I, oh…um—
"—business is slow at this time of night…here." He broke the muffin in half and set it on a napkin in front of me as I took a seat at the booth, reluctantly.
"I've been fancying a break." I muttered and took off my apron, revealing a plain white tank top and a blue miniskirt that was part of the uniform. Sighing, I fingered the muffin, and then broke it into a smaller piece. Absentmindedly, I put it into my mouth and stuck out my tongue.
"Sucks, doesn't it?" The young man in front of me grinned and I couldn't help but smile.
"Sorry…this must be dreadful for you all the time."
"Yep…I do miss my milk products…especially my Cadbury…" He put a hand to his jaw. "I have a bit of a sweet tooth…"
"You poor soul." I giggled and looked down. I didn't usually talk to strangers like this.
"You want to try the coffee?" He asked. I looked at the Styrofoam cup skeptically. He had just drunk from it. It would be like kissing. Was he…flirting? I didn't know what to do. I hadn't had a date in two years….back when I was nineteen.
"You're thinking far too hard about this. Is it the fact that I haven't introduced myself? Well, I'm Simon—
He looked at his watch suddenly, then at me.
"—I'm late…I…maybe I'll see you again sometime?" He stood and downed the rest of his coffee, giving me a hopeful look.
"Maybe." I sighed. "See ya."
"See you."
After an unneventful day at work, it was nice to relax now and then. Unfortunately, I didn't get to do that. Instead, I was forced to go bar-hopping with my party crazy friend Diana. Unlike me, she had anormal was a secretary.
I guess that explains all the pent up energy...
"Bloody hell! You got off work late tonight! It's 12:45!" My best friend Diana shouted over the noise of the club as she danced with her boyfriend. I knocked back another glass of vodka at the bar and grimaced as it went down.
"I know…I don't know why I had to keep it open so late…!" I hiccupped, but Diana wasn't listening any longer.
Everything was getting blurry and I knew I was past my limit. Stumbling, I picked up my purse and headed for the door. I could see people moving, Diana laughing, people drinking…then the floor started coming up on me hard and fast. I braced myself for impending doom, but it never came.
"Coffee-chick…"
I heard a velvety voice from above, and straightened myself up. It was Simon. He had caught me before I fell.
"It's Mina, Simon." I gave him a smile, induced only by four glasses of vodka.
"That's a nice name." He put my arm around his shoulder to steady me.
"I fancy it…" I mumbled.
"I think you should go home…you've had enough partying…" His voice was a bit sterner this time, and a cool gust of air hit my face, telling me we had just exited.
"Where do you live?" He pulled out keys from his pocked and unlocked his car door. It was dark black…a mini.
"You're a very pretty blonde," I smiled, twirling a lock of his hair around my finger.
"Mina…" He let out a sigh.
"It's almost white…" I babbled on.
"Did you come here with a friend who could take you home?" He asked.
"That coffee was probably going to be disgusting as well…" I sniggered.
"I guess it's back to my house then…" He rolled his eyes and helped me into the passenger's seat and I felt a little bit of consciousness coming back to me.
"Wait...I can't….I don't know you…"I muttered. Simon seemed to ignore the statement and pulled out into the traffic.
I let my head hit the window and groaned. This was the end to my spiral for the week. I'd usually get drunk and Diana would take me home to sleep it off and go back to a job I despised. I had always aspired to be a writer, but anything that would get me a couple of bucks would do lately. Every time I sent in a manuscript, it'd always get rejected for being to wordy, to over thought, and too boring. Slowly, I felt body falling into relaxation mode, and my eyes closed. I fell asleep almost instantly.
A/n: The title might not make so much sense right now, but it'll all fall into place soon with the modeling job. I hope everyone reads and reviews this.
