You Pulled Me Out

You swam in deep waters but still pulled yourself out,

You were the stubborn one without a doubt.

You knew the fine line from beginning to end,

From fun to serious, you knew it all.

But I still dove in the raging sea and began to swim.

As I swam further, I began to gulp in water.

You were uncomfortable with me in that storm,

So without further warning you jumped in the prickling thorns.

Choking I fell in the dark as the storm thickened,

I should have listened.

But you pulled me out, and as I came about

Realizing where I had been,

I see now why you only go in when the waters are thin.

You pulled me out and saved me,

And for that forever a friend you shall be.
