Release Your Grasp

Try to make me perfect,

But we both know you won't succeed.

You wish you knew how to mold me,

How to fulfill your dreams,

But I won't let you use me,

For you barely even know me.

You put me on plinth,

But I have been surrounded my a mist so dense,

That you don't understand.

People watch as you make yourself a fool,

Pretending to know how to fix me,

When I'm not even broken.

You claim you see me falling,

But you can't justify this protection.

Try to make me perfect,

But we both know you won't succeed.

You wish you knew how to mold me,

How to fulfill your dreams,

But I won't let you use me,

For you barely even know me.

I fight you for my freedom,

But you refuse to look at me clearly,

Because then you'd be forced into letting go.

I've grown too much for this treatment,

Innocence long gone,

Dreams of my own ready to be followed,

But you still won't let your treasure leave your side.

Our images won't blend,

No compromise in sight,

But I won't bend to your tyranny.

Try to make me perfect,

But we both know you won't succeed.

You wish you knew how to mold me,

How to fulfill your dreams,

But I won't let you use me,

For you barely even know me.

Look into my eyes,

And tell me what you see.

A whole new world,

A place where I am free.

Maybe now you'll understand,

Now that I've let you in.

Its time to release your grasp.

Your love was once valued,

Once treated with respect,

But now I feel smothered,

And like its time to fight back.

When will justice ring,

When will I feel your tight embrace loosening?

Let me run, let me dance without you watching over me,

Let me feel the wind, let me taste life without you by my side.

Release your grasp,

Before you strangle me.

Try to make me perfect,

But we both know you won't succeed.

You wish you knew how to mold me,

How to fulfill your dreams,

But I won't let you use me,

For you barely even know me.

Release your grasp,

Your strangling me.

Release your grasp,

I'm dying for freedom.

Release your grasp,

I'm not giving in.

Release your grasp,

Let me be.
