The Only Tomorrow

The Lily-pads are all askew

The frozen water's waiting for you

You're lying there, blood forming a crown

Motionless, upon the ground

The Earth is ending at your feet

Humans dying in the streets

The bombs on high

They signify

The truth

The soldier's cry,

Your love is

Waiting for you

The world won't miss you when you're gone

The birds won't sing a prayer

And as time goes on, passing by

Your dust will merely thicken the air

There's no definition of right and wrong

In a world of death and destruction

The animals live just as gloriously

As when Earth first began its production

And maybe the ones at the end of the world

Places too remote to be bothered

Maybe they'll manage to start life anew

But the differences will be abhorred

And the sun, when it rises, won't feel a thing:

Not pain, nor ultimate sorrow

That Earth's people are gone and they won't be returning,

That they ruined their only tomorrow
