After Nobunaga and Mia had found armfuls of dead tree branches the sun was highest in the sky. "Maybe they sent us out because we are the only elves in the village who are less than a hundred years old." Nobunaga suggested from somewhere beneath a huge stack of wood.
"How do you mean? We aren't that bad." Mia replied under an equally enormous stack of wood.
"Well we are only sixteen and most of the elves in the village over 200. We are probably at least a little annoying." Nobunaga explained, the morning's 'lecture' still fresh in his mind.
"Well you did sleep in." Mia said grinning.
Nobunaga, ignoring the comment, asked "Why don't we prove to the elders that we are more than irresponsible, immature, children and go fishing? When we bring back dinner they will have to accept us as responsible mature young adults. Well one of us anyways."
Mia was silent for a moment before saying "Okay. Let me get my rod. It is in the hollow stump of the tree struck by lightning."
"Cool. My fishing spear is lodged in the willow nearby that stump. It won't be a problem to get it out." Nobunaga replied happily as he and Mia walked off to that hollow stump and willow. Once Nobunaga and Mia had retrieved the fishing equipment Nobunaga challenged Mia to a race to the Living River. Mia, thinking Nobunaga childish sped after him. Of course that is typical of any older sibling to think anything the younger sibling does as stupid and childish but partake in it anyways.
Nobunaga arrived on the banks of the Living River confident Mia was lost in the thicket behind him however Mia had been behind him the whole time. When Mia stopped Nobunaga was still unaware of this so Mia pushed Nobunaga into the water below. As Nobunaga stood up grinning he grabbed Mia's ankle, pulled her into the water, and emptied the water out of his shoes. Mia shoved Nobunaga's head under the water and climbed out of the river. "You got me all wet!"
"Well you scared all the fish away! Now I will have to wait forever to get a catch! The fish will just come to you because you have bait!" Nobunaga said pretending to cry.
"Stop whining you big baby." Mia said sarcastically.
"Wow! I thought I was thick but for you to believe I was crying!" Nobunaga exclaimed.
