Hide and Seek
Amber HillA wilted rose,
A single tear,
A yellowed photograph, memories
of the faded past.
Remember the stars,
Crystal sprays against
the graphite sky?
A blanket for our dreams,
fuel for our fire,
clouds to shield the sun,
a kiss to soothe the pain.
A silent whisper,
An ironic smile,
A cursory glance, traces
on the skin of anticipation.
What about the horizon,
Stony shadows away
in the near distance?
Lines etched on jet-black velvet,
silver for the light,
hands to cover my eyes,
a walk in the darkness.
Sorrow's harmony echoes
the last of your dying footsteps.
I hid, and hid myself well,
but you did not seek.
Cover your eyes and count
one last time.
For it's time I left
this fantasy you were never in.
