A/N If you haven't read "He Moved Away" stop reading now and go read that first. For those of you that have read it, this is just a short little thing explaining what she did after the last chapter ended.

New Struggles

"Hey, Moira? You think you could meet me at the park?… Okay great, I'll see you there." I hung up the phone and turned to Charlie. "Okay, let's go." I turned and we both headed out the door. We held hands as we walked towards the park where Moira was headed. I took deep breaths, trying to calm myself down for what I was about to do. We arrived at the park and Moira was sitting under the tree we always used to go to. I walked over and sat down beside her. "It's been a while since we were here." I said, trying to avoid the reason I had called her.

"Hey, you two together now?" She asked with a smirk. "I saw you two holding hands. I also noticed, although I could be wrong because it was from a distance, but you looked nervous." She said eyeing me suspiciously.

"Nothing gets passed you." I joked, "I was nervous, I am nervous. I called because there is something really important I have to tell you. The only people that know are Charlie and his mom." I started my story.

"Your mom doesn't know yet?" Moira looked at me sideways.

"No, now be quiet and let me talk. Well you know I have been sick for the past few days," Moira nodded, "well I had a strange dream last night that alerted me to something so I was going to go to a doctor but Charlie's mom said she knew a faster way." I paused and I could see the colour draining in Moira's face. "I took a home pregnancy test." I watched Moira's face as I talked and by this point it had become so pale you would've sworn she had seen a ghost. "It was positive, Moira." I finished with a whisper. Suddenly her face became an angry red and she turned to Charlie.

"You asshole! You've only known her for a week!" She screamed. I placed my hand on her shoulder to try and calm her.

"Moira, stop. Think rationally." I said. She turned to me and her face paled as it dawned on her what I was saying.

"I'm sorry Charlie, I got mad at the wrong prick. That asshole! Now he's in BC while his ex is in Ontario and pregnant with his child. I'm going to kill him!" She screamed as she jumped from her spot. She started jumping and looking around wildly as though she expected him to walk over at any minute.

"MOIRA! Sit down. You don't have to alert the whole world. In fact, I don't want you to tell anyone else. Especially David. If you feel the need to tell him anything, tell him I haven't forgiven him yet and I don't want to talk to him. Don't so much as say I'm sick." I gave her a warning look and she sat back down beside me.

"Violet, I'm so sorry." She started sobbing and then twisted around so she could hug me. "I love you no matter what. I promise I won't tell anyone."

"Thanks Moira. Now, to go home and talk to my mother." I said. I took a deep breath and stood up. I lost my balance and started to fall backwards but Charlie was quicker and grabbed me. I blushed and stood up the rest of the way. "Would you two mind walking with me? I won't ask you to come in with me, I think that just has to be me, but I would like company on the walk there at least." I said meekly. They both nodded and we all headed back to my house in silence. For the whole walk I was trying to work out what I was going to tell my mom when I got there.

We arrived at my house quicker than I expected and Charlie and Moira sat on the bench on my porch. I walked into my house and found my mom sitting on the couch watching TV.

"Mom, can I talk to you?" I said as I gently sat on the couch beside her.

"Of course sweetie, you know you can talk to me about anything." She said, putting her arm around my shoulders.

"Before David left, something happened. Something I told myself would never happen. Now…" I felt the hot tears running down my cheeks, "I didn't want to let you down. I didn't want this to happen. I'll get a job, I'll pay for everything." By that point I was sobbing and my mom was rubbing my back to comfort me.

"Violet, it's okay. I'm not mad at you. I can hardly get mad at you when it happened to me too. Did you know it happened to Alison as well?" My mom asked.

"She told me this morning." I replied, still sobbing uncontrollably.

"This morning? So that's where you've been all day."

"I'm sorry I left without telling you. My dream made me realize what was wrong with me and I didn't want to worry you more so Charlie and I left and I was going to walk to the clinic but Charlie made me go to his house and Alison bought me a pregnancy test and it was positive." I said quickly. Now that she knew what had made me sick, I didn't want her to be mad when she found out I went to Alison instead of her.

"Violet, when I thought I was pregnant, I went to my best friend's mom. I couldn't bear the thought of disappointing my parents. I hid out there for a few days and begged her parents not to tell my parents where I was. You were braver than I was for coming to me today." She kissed my forehead and then we just sat in silence for a while. "Violet, don't worry about a job just yet. It would do no good, you'd only be able to work for a few months. Wait until a little bit after you've had the baby, okay? I will help you until then." I nodded my head and smiled, knowing everything was going to be okay. I stood up and walked to the front door.

"You guys can come in now." I said when I opened the door. Charlie came in first and hugged me and then Moira followed. "Everything is okay." I said in response to their questioning looks.
