"Reminiscing the Angels"
"We are each of us angels with only one wing and
we can only fly by embracing each other."
- Luciano de Crescenzo
One night I rode the bus home,
The air dreary because I was all alone
Except for this little girl,
A bundle of bright, golden curls
Staring,
Oh that haunting staring
Yet so pretty,
Street lights passing
Traffic light turns red on cue,
You know when I see that color
I still think of you
I remember days frantic but free,
In the meadows I ran
But I let you catch me,
For it's your arms that I yearn
And in those two brown eyes,
I burn
Let's bring roses,
Pave them on the earth we lie
So we can fall back,
And point to the angels
Flying in the crimson sky
Little raindrop,
Trickles down
Trickles down the glass pane,
More drops trickle
As the bus fights against the rain,
The drops like salmon
Swimming through its fears,
For salmon swim harder
When the end is at near,
Mine is much farther
So I drown in the years,
Tails in contortion
Death is what's in store,
Yet they swim on
They know what they're living for,
I should take lessons from fish
If just to learn ambition,
Was then thinking of tuna
Until the salmon
Pointed to that girl's reflection.
You know that feeling,
When clawed branches
Slowly reach down above you,
And feel them seem to close up
Then you're done,
It has you!
She's still there
Or I wonder if she's real?
The air suddenly so cold in here
"Hello there, do you have a name?"
Silence is what I call her,
Those brown eyes dead and demeaning
She's getting closer,
Without moving her feet
Her malevolence stalking,
She sat right next to my seat
Something not right,
Scream MAN scream!
But I don't I stay still,
And only a thread holds down my will
She's staring,
With her lips stuttering
Tears dropping,
She's staring
And I dare not look,
I close my eyes
So I won't see her staring,
Is that really you?
Dejected by my stead,
But she can't be!
She's young,
And you're dead.
Red is power,
Red is hope
Red is love to whomever sees it good,
The color of our sky,
Forever I shall keep
Your just the best memory I ever had,
I just never got to tell you that
How the angels flew in our childhood past,
How we ran
How we laughed,
How could I have known?
It just wasn't fair,
I only closed my eyes for a moment
Then you weren't there,
So now I hope that you know
That I reminisce the angels that flew,
So don't cry now
I'll always remember you,
This journey never ends
Just salmon swimming on God's palm,
I open my eyes
I hope you're there,
But you were gone.
