It was yet another slow morning at the diner, all the girls stood behind the counter gossiping as usual. There was a new guy starting today he became there main subject as he walked into the front door.

"Goodness." Jess said with a smile turning her attention to the tall handsome guy."Now that's good lookin'!"

"Oh yea! Tall dark and handsome." Lynn said looking him up and down.

"Good looking kid, too bad I'm too old." Paula laughed.

"He's trash." Annie said with her arms crossed in front of her, leaning into the counter.

"How do you know?" Jess ask.

"He's from sixth street, he just moved beside me and John up at Grove about two weeks ago. He'll probably turn Grove into trash next."

"Don't mean he's trash." Jess said defending him.

"Please, its drug capital of this town." Annie said grabbing a tray and heading out onto the floor to check her customers before taking her break.

Annie headed to the back to eat her breakfast at the employee table which was conveniently placed beside the employee restroom. As she sat down he sat himself across from her. They both sat silently as she ate her food for a few minutes until he finally spoke up.

"Hi." He smiled. He had a beautiful smile snow white teeth with full lips "My names Robbie."

"Annie." She faked a smile and went back to eating her food.

"So you like working here?" He asked as he lit a cigarette.

"Yea."

"I hope I do I'm in bad need of a job."

"We all are that's why we're here." She stated plainly.

"You're not too friendly are ya?" He laughed.

"Only on a good day." She said smartly. Pushing her food aside she lit a cigarette and opened up the daily newspaper.

'Such a pretty girl but such a bad attitude.' He thought to himself.

"Ok girls! Its four o'clock and we're off the floor, time to go back smoke and count our money." Lynn said motioning the girls her way. They all walked to the back and seated themselves at the table pulling there tips out of their aprons and began counting.

"41 bucks." Jess said disappointed, she usually did better.

"67" Lynn said pleased.

"60." Paula said going back and counting it again.

"75" Annie smiled brightly. "I'm just that good." As she got ready to clock out Robbie came to the back.

"Any of you girls going toward Grove or anywhere near it?" He asked. All the girls looked at Annie.

"No." She said coldly and clocked out. "I'll see you girls tomorrow."

"Babe, I'm home." She hollered through the apartment. No answer meaning he had already left for work, she looked through the apartment everything was spotless. She loved it when he cleaned house before going to work it was less she had to when she got home from work. She took her shoes off and made her way to the bedroom. She set the clock and laid down across the bed she had 5 hours until he would be home she would get some rest before getting dinner ready for the two.
