Chapter Two Creation

Amara tried to move forward but her legs would not move. They were no longer there. She tried to look down but she had no eyes to look with. Her body was gone, but she was still there. All that remained was her soul, her presence. The light was no longer in front of her but all around her, within her. There was no darkness, simply love, joy, and light. Then there were thousands of smaller lights everywhere, bright and beautiful. Each one was different. Each one was unique and perfect. They began to sing. Each in there own special voice. The song was and still is the most beautiful thing Amara had or will ever hear. Then God separated the light from darkness.

"The light is day and the darkness is night." The light faded into darkness. After what felt like an eternity the light came back up. Then a great mass of land and water mixed together, the earth, appeared beneath the singing lights.

"Let there be a firmament in the midst of waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters." Then clouds appeared in the sky. The light faded again and came back again.

"Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one body and let dry land appear." Pangaea rose up out of the earth's formless mass and the dirt in the water settled to the bottom forming a clear ocean. "The dry land is Earth and the waters are seas." A couple of hours passed. "Let the earth put forth vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is there seed, each according to its kind, up on the earth." The earth turned green and was covered in plants of all shapes, sizes, colors, and kinds in the time of a breath.

"Wow cool," Amara breathed in awe.

"Thank you," God said. Then it was dark. Then it was light again.

"Let there be lights in the vault of heaven to separate day from night, and let them serve as signs both for festivals, and for seasons and years. Let them also shine in the vault of heaven to give light on earth." Thousands of new lights appeared that were different from the ones before. They had substance and were physically there. One was much larger and brighter then the rest and out shone all the other lights so that they could not be seen. Then it faded away but this time not all was dark. A large light was there, not as large as the first light and definitely not as bright. It was accompanied by all the rest of the thousands of lights each as small as the pin point hole left by a needle. The night was no longer lonely. The larger light returned to claim its place in the sky.

"Let the waters team with countless living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of heaven." Thousands of fish and other creatures appeared in the ocean and all sorts of birds of all shapes and sizes appeared flying in the sky and chirping cheerfully in the fresh new trees. "Be fruitful and increase. Fill the waters of the seas; and let the birds increase on land." Evening came and morning came.

"Let the earth bring forth living creatures, according to their kind: cattle, reptiles, and wild animals, all according to their kind." Animals appeared everywhere, in the mountains, in the deserts, in the jungles, on the plains, and at the poles and of every shape, size, color, and kind. A couple of hours passed. "Let us make man in our image and likeness to rule the fish in the sea, the birds of heaven, the cattle, all the wild animals on Earth, and all reptiles that crawl up on the earth." The light took some dust, shaped it into a man, and breathed a part of itself into it. The dust, which was no longer dust, sat up. "Be fruitful and increase, fill the earth and subdue it, rule over the fish of the sea, the birds of heaven, and every living thing that moves up on the earth, and every tree bearing fruit which yields seed: they shall be yours for food. All green plants I give for food to the wild animals to all the birds of heaven, and to all the reptiles on Earth, every living creature." Then night came and morning.

"This day is holy," God said. Nothing happened all that day. The next day God planted a garden at the delta of a great river.

"You may not enter the garden since you have sinned." Amara was placed on the earth just outside the garden, west of the third river that branched of the great river.
