Light the candles of hope
The warm glow spreads
Throwing away creeping tendrils of dark
Their soft radiance
Throws out a halo of warmth
Alights on flowers
Red for a wedding
White for a funeral
The blood petalled rose, just opening
Lays on the mahogany
The pale lily next to it
The music of the piano drifts
Around them
Entwining them in song
Dark and light interwoven
Both beautiful
Both paths
Chose and walk your way
I chose neither
I shift between them
Warm light and clinging shadows
White lily and red rose
