Hiding Cowards

composed 12.15.2005

What could have been,

what never was,

what once was held so dear,

Has fallen apart,

down the drain,

lost for evermore.

Within the mind,

a hope remains:

a fragile, thoughtless one.

What fools might hope

to entertain

a lost cause such as this.

Hiding cowards,

beneath dark tables,

cloistered and alone.

In this, surrender,

relief from compassion

and woe.
