Bright Blessèd Night

This night is pale,

Tonight is light

A night so sweet

And still so stark

Contrast to a bold bright day

Different to the yellow sun

The cloud shroud moon glows gently on,

Guarded by her thousand stars.

The night is private, stifling close,

Cosy, comforting, open, free

Scary shadows, place to hide

There's a reason that Romeo and his sweet Juliet

Did not first meet by blessèd day.

I challenge you who says

That nights are not so great as days

That light is better far than dark

For without dark we would not know it when we see the light

Yes, it is night that seems to run from day,

But without night there is no rest

And so it is day that surrenders skies to night

To let us see more clearly another night and day.
