Where are you Christmas?

What is Christmas nowadays? Is it just another pop culture holiday with presents for all? Is it just another day off of work?

That's what people treat it as, but that's not what Christmas is all about. It's the birth of Christ, and even if you aren't Christian but you celebrate it—it's a time of giving. Not receiving. It's when you give all you can to those who'll appreciate it.

A couple weeks ago, one of the radio stations that I listen to was collecting toys outside of a WalMart for one of those foundations that help underprivileged children. How sweet, don't you think? Well WalMart doesn't own their parking lot, they rent it, and the people they were renting it from didn't like the idea of the radio station sitting outside of the store in their parking lot. The owners proceeded to ban the radio station.

Where's their Christmas spirit? How evil does a person have to be to go out of their way to make sure that children DON'T get presents! It sounds like the Grinch to me.

Other stores offered to let them come to their store, but the radio station refused and said that they could take up their own collection. They were very grateful for the offer though.

It's then that I began to wonder, where's the Christmas spirit? Nobody thinks of others anymore. We're living in a self-centered society. I can't believe what the world is coming too.

You might think I'm just being overdramatic, and you have the right to think that, but I don't think I am. I'm just shocked.

I'm not expecting everyone to go out there and donate toys, time or money….but to take those things away?
