Mask
I watch every day as you get up
And quickly hide beneath your mask
I see you sitting with your
Friends, as you like to call them
And I see not you, but
A stranger
Silently obscuring yourself beneath
The mask
Which envelopes
Not just your face
But your personality
And everything you ever believed in
I hardly see you without your mask
As if you could not bare to part with it
For just one second
Because one second
Is all it takes to
Glance at the clear blue eyes
Hidden beneath
The mask
And to see how they reflect
The sensitivity and earnest
Of the person you really want to be
