Chapter Three: The Annoyance
When we boarded ship, I showed the two men to their quarters. My crew was yet to be back and I hadn't gotten a full nights rest in a long time so I decided that we'd be better off to set sail in the mornin'.
After we headed out of Corcova's bay area one of my crew members, Tom to be exact, came to me with news of an intruder…a female intruder… Who do ye think came to mind? You probably guessed it…the pirette.
Tom said that her name was Carly. Somehow they had gotten her to tell them…I'd rather not know, so I didn't ask. I still, to this day, do not know.
Tom went back below deck and sent Carly up. For some reason she didn't quite realize the fact that she was my prisoner, although she had self-appointed herself my prisoner by coming aboard. She wandered around, it was quite humorous…as if she had never seen a pirate ship, or any ship at all!
I approached her without caution, knowing that I had an entire crew that would kill her if she touched me, "So, Carly, is it?"
She kneeled by a bucket used to clean the deck, looking at it with disgust, "Aye…"
"What brings ye aboard the Contentious?"
"My constant perpetual urge to annoy you," Carly said, approaching the helm.
"Well it's working," I said, steering her away.
An unfamiliar voice chimed in, "Well, if that's what she wants then don't let her have it…" It turned out to be Dave's friend.
"What's your name?"
"Peter." I never liked that name.
"Aye, Peter. Where be David?"
"Still asleep, he may have had too much to drink…"
I laughed. There was no such thing as too much to drink when it came to Captain Dave.
Peter gave me a weird look, because he obviously couldn't hear my thoughts. I just shook my head as if to say no and turned my attention back to Carly.
"What should I do about you?" I paused for a moment to contemplate my options, "Well…until I can figure something out, you will be staying below deck with my crew. Their choice as to where exactly. I won't be seein' ye, hopefully. Oh don't worry, Miss Carly…they won't have too much fun." I motioned for another crew member to take her below the deck.
Later on that evening, Dave, Peter and I were eating on deck when I heard a scream, which I figured was Carly. I decided I had to go see what was going on but when I got down there and called out to her she acted fine. I don't know what happened, but I couldn't let her stay down there any longer. I was in a situation similar to hers once, and I couldn't just sit around and let that happen to somebody else. She refused to tell me what made her scream. Cole said that it was probably a rat, or something of the likes...I guess we'll never really know, but that's okay.
Yes, she was annoying…but I learned to live with the annoyance called Carly, over time.
Author's Note- Okay so here's the next chapter. Could've been better, yes, I know. It's longer than the others I believe. Exciting, eh? Okay well, I started the next chapter...hopefully I'll finish it soon. Each of these chapters is two handwritten pages and about one typed up...I'll try to make them longer, unless you like shorter ones. Whatever. Your choice, although ultimately my decision. Don't you just love the confusion I cause? I do.
