Daniel was new to the city. He was looking for a good coffee shop. He went into Jack's. He heard from his neighbor that it had really good coffee. "This is good coffee. I may come here more often." He thought to himself. At that moment he looked up and stopped dead in his tracks. In front of him stood a girl with a beautiful coco complexion and long raven black hair. She was about 5'8. "She is the most beautiful girl that I have ever seen." He thought to himself. A feeling came over him as he watched her. A foreign feeling that he never had before. It wasn't bad, in fact it was the best feeling that he ever felt in his life.
The girl got her coffee and went to leave. She felt like someone was watching her. When Daniel saw her turning he hurried up and looked in the other direction so she wouldn't think that he was a weirdo. When the girl turned around she caught the sight of Daniel before he looked away. "He has the most beautiful brown hair and blue eyes. He has to be about 6'1. The shirt that he was wearing showed off his perfectly sculpted arms. They looked strong and she thought about him embracing her in those arms. His shirt hugged his body enough that you could see his well-defined pecs and six-pack. He had a great body but he wasn't like a body builder. He was lean and beautifully toned. "I would love to feel his hair in my hands. Whoa I am losing it. Having these thoughts about a stranger. I better get out of here before he sees me looking at him." She thought to herself.
When Daniel turned around he saw the girl leave the coffee shop. He felt a pain in his chest. "I am definitely coming here again."
The next day Daniel woke up early to make sure that he got to Jack's at the same time as yesterday. He went to the shop and waited for her to show up. "I hope that she comes back today." Just as he thought that she walked through the door.
The girl looked around to see if the handsome brunette that she saw the day before was there today. A huge smile formed on her face as she found him sitting there in the same spot that he was in the day before.
When Daniel saw her smile his heart skipped a beat. He watched her as she got her coffee and left the shop. "I need to speak to her. I'll come tomorrow and ask her name, but someone as beautiful as her probably has a boyfriend."
For the next four days Daniel came to the shop. He watched the girl come in, get her coffee and leave, without speaking to her.
On the seventh day that he watched her leave he realized that this may be the last time that he would be able to see her. He had to start at his new job tomorrow. He had to think quick so he ran out of the shop to catch up with her.
"Excuse me. I am new to town. I am trying to find Carlisle Towers. I was wondering if you could tell me where it is."
The girl looked in awe as the brunette from the shop was standing in front of her, talking to her. She thought that she was dreaming until she heard him say, "Are you okay? If you don't know where it is that's ok."
"Uh..uh." She stuttered. When she finally realized that she wasn't dreaming she smiled. When Daniel saw her smile he started to smile.
"I'm sorry." She said with joy in her voice. "Carlisle Towers is just down the street and then you take a rig-. How about I just take you there. I am going in that direction anyway."
With those words Daniel did a mental back flip. "I don't mind at all."
The two started walking down the street. "My name is Daniel, by the way." He said nervously.
"I'm Kathleen. You can call me Kate or Billie. My middle name is Wilhelmina so all of my friends call me Billie. My parents are the only ones who really call me Kate. They are so strange. They named me: Kathleen Wilhelmina Gaylnor. I am named after my grandmother Kathleen on my mothers side and my great-grandmother Wilhelmina on my dads side. I am so embarrassed. I just babbled on to you about things that you probably don't even care about."
"I do care." He said hastily trying to ease her embarrassment. "My whole name is: Daniel Leonardo Kaufman. My mom is a big fan of Leonardo Da Vinci so she thought that would be a great name for her son. My brothers mane is Michelangelo. I guess my mom just loves Renaissance artists." He said with a laugh.
"So I guess both of our parents are in love with unconventional names. I actually like yours though. I have grown accustomed to mine because I am stuck with it for life."
"I love your name, Wilhelmina." He said with a smile.
"Thank you. I love your name, Leonardo."
Kate's phone ring. "Excuse me for a sec. Hello."
"Hi Billie!" a cheerful voice said.
"Hey Les. So you mind if I call you back later. I'm busy right now."
"Are you with a guy? Is it that guy from the Jack's?" Leslie said hopefully..
"Yes! I am walking with him now. Ok so I'll call you back and tell you everything. Bye."
"Ok bye Billie. Good luck."
She turned back to Daniel. "I am sooo sorry. I had to take that call."
"That's fine. If you don't mind me asking, was that your boyfriend?"
"I don't mind, and no that was not my boyfriend. That was my best friend Leslie. She and I have know each other since we were 6 years old. I don't have a boyfriend. I broke up with a guy that I dated for two years, three months ago. He was so not right for me. He cheated on me the whole second year of our relationship."
"Why did you stay with him for so long?"
"I guess I felt like maybe he would change. I was never in love with him. I am not the type of person who likes to give up. I thought that our relationship was a work-in-progress. I thought that if I kept trying then he would stop cheating on me and maybe we could work. It wasn't until he tried to hit on Leslie that I realized that he wouldn't. He knew that she was my best friend in the whole world and she would never do that to me. I dumped him that day and I have never looked back."
"That guy was a jerk! If I was dating someone as great and beautiful as you, I would never do anything to jeopardize our relationship. I would love you like no one else ever could." Daniel said angrily and passionately.
At that moment Kate fell in love with Daniel. "I would love to have a boyfriend like you. I haven't been that lucky yet."
At that Daniel felt like his chances with her were better.
"Oh we're here." Kate said regretfully. "This is where we part. It was really great meeting you. Maybe we'll run into each other again."
"I really am happy that I met you Billie. I hope we meet again too."
As she was walking away Daniel felt this tightening in his heart. "Wait Billie!" He ran to her. "I have something to confess. I did just move to town but this is not my friends apartment building. I live here. I only told you that story about my friend because I thought that I would never see you again if I didn't talk to you. I have been going to the coffee shop everyday since the first time I saw you, just so I could see your beautiful face. I am really sorry that I lied to you, but I didn't know what else to do. I feel something for you that I have never felt for anyone before."
"I have only been going to the coffee shop because I wanted to see you."
"Really!"
"Yes. I don't know what this feeling is but I like you more than I ever thought I could."
"I don't want to sound too forward, but would you like to come up to my apartment. I am not asking you up for sex, I respect you too much for that. I just want to get to know you better."
"Yes I would love to." She said with a laugh.
They went up to his apartment. "I hope that you don't judge me by this mess. I just haven't gotten around to unpacking yet. I have been here for a month. I haven't really had any company so I didn't care. Now that you're here I am a little embarrassed."
"Don't be. I don't care at all. I am just happy that I'm here with you. They're just boxes."
"Would you like anything to drink? I have water and…uh… water."
"Water would be great." She said with a light chuckle.
"Water it is.'
He went to get the water and she looked around his apartment. She noticed that he had a television stand that he was trying to put together but didn't finish. He walked in. "Your water, milady."
"Thank you kind sir."
"Okay now I have a confession to make. I love putting things together and I noticed that you have a television stand that needs to be put together. So if you don't mind my nosiness I would love to help you put it together."
"Oh I don't mind. I need some help putting it up and if it lets me spend time with you then go for it."
"Great!" Kate said enthusiastically. "Ok where are the instructions?"
"I don't know. They are probably still in the box. I didn't use them."
She started laughing. "You men are all the same. When my father would try to put things together he would never use the directions until I started helping him."
He playfully threw a pillow from the couch at her. "You think that you can put it together better than me?"
"Looking at the millions of pieces on the floor…yeah. I can get it into one piece."
"Okay. I'll believe it when I see it."
She took off her jacket and she was wearing a tank top that showed off her figure. Daniel couldn't help but think about his hands caressing her curves. "You have to stop thinking that about her. You told her that isn't why you asked her to come in for. Oh but she is just so irresistible. No woman should be as beautiful as she is." He thought to himself. "So you grew up putting things together with your father. Daddy's Little Princess." He said to her.
"Yeah, I have spent a lot of time with my dad. He spoiled me more than any other kid I know. I think it was because I was an only child."
"You think." He said jokingly.
"Yeah." She said smiling. "Well my dad is really my step dad but we don't say that word ever in my family. When my mom was pregnant with me my biological father left her. That is when she met my dad. He loved her and married her even though she was already pregnant. He has loved us both as much as any husband or father. I did luck up in the family department is some ways."
"He sounds like a great man. What do you mean, some ways?"
"Well ever since I have gotten older my parents have started vacationing more. They are gone for weeks at a time. They call me and I know that they love me, but I wish that I could spend more time with them. I'm sorry for unloading my family issues on you."
"No, I want you to trust me. I want you to unload on me whenever you want."
The two of them had found that comfortable silence. "So why is a great guy like you unattached?"
"To tell you the truth I was engaged to be married until two months ago."
"Really?!" She said shocked. "I'm sorry I'm just surprised. What happened?"
"I was dating a girl that I grew up with. Everyone always expected us to get married. When we were kids they would say that one day we were going to get married. So on our graduation day I proposed to her. Everyone was happy, everyone but me. I loved her but not in the way you love someone that you want to spend the rest of your life with. She was my best friend. We were more like brother and sister. It was our wedding day two months ago. I couldn't go through with the wedding. I couldn't marry someone that I didn't love. So I went to see her in the bridal suite and I told her. She was heartbroken. It hurt me to see her like that because I really cared for her, but I knew that a year later she would be grateful that we didn't get married. I knew that she was crushed so I told everyone that I called it off. Both of our families were devastated. I settled everything that had to do with the wedding and I moved out here two weeks ago. Then I met you. I knew at the time I was doing the right thing. I just wasn't sure. Now I am. If I had married her I wouldn't be sitting here with you. I think that we both know what I am about to do right now."
"Yeah I think that I know."
At that moment he pulled her in his arms for a deep passionate kiss. Their hands intertwined. The kiss didn't feel forced. It felt like they had been born to kiss each other. When their lips parted they stared into each others eyes.
'Wow."
"Wow."
"You are a great kisser, Billie."
"Me? You are awesome."
"Billie, I don't want to scare you off but I want to tell you something. I love you. I know that we just met but I was in love with you the first time that I saw you. I haven't been able to sleep without dreaming about you. I think about you every waking moment."
"I love you, Leo. "
"Will you marry me, Billie?"
"Are you serious?"
"I have never been more serious about anything in my life, I want you to be my wife. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want you to be the mother of my children."
"Yes."
"Really?"
"Yes! Yes I want to be you. I want to marry you right now." Kate, threw her arms around, Leo, and started planting kisses all over his face.
"Okay lets go to City Hall right now. I want to be able to call you my wife as soon as possible."
"Wait I have something to tell you. I'm a virgin."
"That's great, I don't like the thought of sharing you with any other man."
"How old are you? I'm 18."
"I'm 26."
"When is your birthday?"
"November 1st, and yours."
"July 10th."
He took her into his arms and kissed her passionately again. The two of them didn't want to get out of their embrace. She loved having his arms around her. He loved the feel of her soft skin in his arms. It wasn't until Kate broke the kiss that they let up for air.
"I want you to meet me at City Hall in one hour."
"Wait, what, where are you going?"
"It's a surprise. Just be there in one hour."
"I will be there in one hour. I love you." He gave her another kiss. "I love you, Leo."
"Hello Leslie. This is your best friend in the whole world. I need you to meet me at Sarah's Boutique ASAP. How soon can you be here? Fifteen minutes, great."
"Billie!" Leslie said while she gave Billie a hug. "So what was so important that I had to rush over here?"
"Okay Leslie, don't freak out. I'm getting married in like 45 minutes and I want you to be my Maid of Honor."
"Ahhhh!" Leslie let out a high pitched scream. "I can't believe that you are getting married. Is it the guy from Jack's?"
"Yes. His name is Daniel. I'm in love with him Les. I know that I have only known him for a few hours but I know what love feels like. You don't think that I'm crazy?"
"No I don't. If you love this guy then you should follow your heart."
"Excuse me, Miss Gaylnor, here is the dress that you wanted to try on." The saleswoman told Kate.
"Thank you so much. I'm going to go try it on. While I am trying my dress on you look for a dress."
"Okay." Leslie said.
Billie went into the dressing room while Leslie searched for a dress. When both of the girls found a dress they came out to show each other.
They both gasped. "You look beautiful." They both shrieked. "No you are the most beautiful bride that anyone will ever see."
"Leslie you are the most beautiful Maid of Honor that anyone will ever see."
"Did you call your parents?"
"I tried to get in touch with them but to avail no answer."
"Well it is their fault for leaving that they will miss their only daughter get married."
"True. Oh my gosh what time is it?"
With the sound of the time the two girls left with their dresses and headed for City Hall.
"Where is she? I won't feel better until I have her in my arms again. Billie is going to be my wife in just a few minutes." Daniel thought happily to himself.
"Look at him Les. He is perfect. He looks so handsome in his suit. It is almost like he read my mind about the dress. Look at his smile, I love his smile. He is going to be my husband pretty soon. Okay can you go and start talking to him? I want to surprise him when he turns around and sees me."
"Okay." Leslie walked over to distract Daniel. "Excuse me." He was too focused on finding Billie. "Hello." Leslie said.
Daniel finally noticed Leslie speaking to him. "Oh hello." He said distractedly.
"I'm Leslie and you are."
"I'm Daniel and I'm sorry but I'm not available now. I'm waiting for my fiancé to come so she can become my wife."
"Oh wait I wasn't hitting on you. You are marrying my best friend."
"Oh you're the Leslie who called her today. Her best friend. I'm sorry that I forgot I'm too focused on seeing her again. Does this mean that she is here now?"
"Well why don't you turn around and see for yourself?" Daniel heard a familiar voice say. He turned around to see Billie in a beautiful white dress.
"So, this is your surprise. You look beautiful." He said before he took her into his arms and kissed her.
"I love your suit. Did you read my mind about the dress? See Leslie we are made for each other. So when do we get married?"
"Right now. I already have a judge who is ready as soon as we are." Daniel said.
"Great. I am so happy right now Leo. I am going to be your wife."
"I am going to be your husband."
So the three of them went into the judges chambers. The judge started the ceremony. Daniel and Kate stared into each others eyes the whole time and almost forgot that anyone else was there until it was time to say there vows.
"Do you, Daniel Leonardo Kaufman, take this woman to be your wife in sickness and in health, with all of the love that is in your heart?" The judge asked. They took out the until death do you part because they knew that they would love each other long after death.
"I do."
"Do you, Kathleen Wilhelmina Gaylnor, take this man to be husband in sickness and in health with all of the love that is in your heart?"
"I do."
"Then by the power vested in me, I now pronounce you man and wife. You may now kiss the bride."
Daniel and Kate looked into each other eyes before kissing. They knew that from this day forward their lives would never be the same. Their lives would be better because they had each other.
"Where did you get the ring? I love it." Kate asked.
"Well that is my surprise for you. That is my grandmothers ring. It is mine to give to the woman I marry. I am so happy that I get to give it to you." Daniel said with a smile on his face.
"Your ring was the second part of my surprise. I went to a jewler on the way here. When I saw the ring I knew that it was for you." They were interrupted by the judge.
"I introduce, Mr. And Mrs. Daniel Kaufman."
"I am Mrs. Daniel Kaufman."
"Yes you are, Mrs. Kaufman. Now let's go home."
