Disturbing Thoughts

As I gaze across the land
The beauty is lost to me,
Disturbed so much by my thoughts
It's hard to see clearly.

What am I thinking you might ask?
It's plainly hard to say.
I try to stick to my task,
But the thoughts won't go away.

As I think of the actions
Of things I did long ago,
My thoughts create these distractions.
Why? I really want to know.

The answer is in plain sight,
I know it is right there.
Oh why can't I see the light?
Oh where is it, oh where?

But such is the way of life,
So many answers lost.
All of our toil and strife
Sum up to a big cost.
