Broken Mirror, Slashed Image

Broken glass, shattered image, fallen to the floor,

It is a danger to the world, glass embedded in those who love,

Bleeding stains of horror that soon fade into dreams,

That haunt only when the moon rises, when the light isn't bright enough to see,

They tear souls from bodies, murder without a second glance

Faith fades, hope erodes, pushed everything away,

Dreams of splendor matter naught, just try to survive,

Or they'll pass you by.

All this confusion, (please don't try to make me perfect),

I'd rather not be that doll,

I won't hide behind the porcelain face, those cheery eyes,

Don't try to force me, to become something I clearly am not,

For I am one who runs with the wind, free of any constriction,

I make my own choices, accept my own faults,

Why can't you just appreciate the star, the sun, the moon,

Unique in me, all three, shining brightly together?

The sun, symbol of life, of all that is good,

Conflicts with the moon, the fear of going on,

Saved by the stars, many separate dreams,

Enough to hold me high.

Pain forges through me, wracking me with sobs,

The mirror shattered upon me,

Erupted in an enticing flame,

Surrounded me with sorrow, left scars upon my face,

Reminders of what I have faced, carved into my skin,

But heart bled in misery that day, when all collapsed within.

I saw you laughing as I cried out for help,

I sensed you standing by the door,

The satisfaction of a job well done.

You couldn't convert me, so why not destroy me?

Glass embedded in my skin, scarring has only just begun,

Can't bare to see the reflection of such a beastly fool,

I shrank back from the image I viewed, when I looked upon the floor,

Fragments of the mirror, uncountable reflectors into the soul,

Revealed to me a poor spirit, wandering alone,

Cast into pain and torture for attempting to be strong.

New blood courses through veins of a defeated host,

I'll bow to you now, submit my body to your cast,

Just change me quickly, before I grow strong once more.

For broken I won't always be,

This game we play, it isn't won so easily, I might fall,

But I only bend, I never break,

I'll heal alone, secluded from the world, and when I return,

I'll be ready for you.

Broken mirror, slashed image,

Nightmares, windows to the soul.
