Chapter Four

"I guess, we can," I replied.
I grabbed my coat and we left the room. We got into Chris' car and drove into the center of town. We walked into the local restaurant. There were no young people in there at all, even the waitresses were older.
"I see what you mean, Amanda. Everyone is older than they should be. That waitress over there is Sara B.'s little sister. She should only be tweny six, but she's at least forty," Chris whispered.
"This is terrible!" I cried loudly.
"Shh!...As long as we're here, why don't we got something to eat? I missed luch today," he spoke.
"Okay," I breathed.
Chris led me over to a booth in the corner. The waitress came over and handed us menus. She then took out her paper and pen to take our drink orders.
"I'll have a beer and she'll have a bottle of spring water," Chris said to the waitress. "I mean, if that's alright with you."
I shook my head in agreement. We looked over the menus and decided what we wanted to eat. We talked a lot about what we had been doing. He had been traveling the world and I had been working in New York City.
About halfway through the meal, I glanced down and noticed my hand was very wrinkled. I began to feel funny. I excused myself and went to the ladies' room. I put a cold towel on my forehead and glanced in the mirror. I was old now, too. My long brown hair was graying and I was all wrinkly. I let out a scream and fell to the floor.

Chapter Five

I woke up awhile later in a strange room, on a couch. I slowly sat up. I had a terrible headache. In the distance, I could hear machines running. I wondered where I was. Suddenly the door across the room opened and Chris appeared. I jumped off the couch. I didn't know why, but I was scared of him.
"Amanda, don't be afraid of me. I won't hurt you. In fact, I want to help you," he said with a evil smirk on his face.
"I don't want your help...I want to leave," I stuttered.
"You just don't understand, do you? I control you. I decide your future. You really have no choice. You agree to be mine forever, and I mean forever, or I'll let you die. I can svae your life," Chris said with a hint of evil in his voice.
"You mean you did this to me. You made old. Why?!" I demanded.
"Why did I do this? Well, let's start at the beginning. You devastated me when you left me. I didn't know what to do, so I traveled the world. You know how everyone always says that there's a fountain of youth...Well, I found it. It's in the dense jungle of Brazil. It is totally amazing. I brought back some of the water and have spent almost three years analyzing, copying, and reversing it," Chris explained.
"Okay, but I still don't understand, why you did it. Big deal, I hurt you. You're just a big baby! You always have been, Chris!" I shouted.
" I did it, so we could be together forever. I love you , Amanda!" he exclaimed.
"So you make all my friends old and then you make me old. You threaten to let me die, but you love me! Well, I have news for you. If you were the last man on Earth, I wouldn't be yours!" I screamed.
"Weel, my dear. I soon will be the last man on Earth. I intend to sell my special spring water all over the world and soon enough nobody will be left. I'll be the only one...Oh and on a side note...The funeral that you passed on the way into town was for Sara S. and last week we paid our respects to Josh S. They are all going to slowly die. No one will be left," Chris replied arrogantly.
"Oh! Shut up, Chris! I am sick of hearing this!" I cried.
"I see that you need some time to think about all of this. I'll leave you alone to think," he spoke.
He walked back out the door and I heard it lock. I sat back down on the couch and began to weep. Through my tears, I realized that I was no longer all wrinkly. My purse was on the floor beside me. I grabbed it and pulled my compact out. I looked at my reflection. I was young again. What was going on here?, I thoought. Just then Chris entered the room again.
"Ah, I see that you are back to your old self. Now, have you reconsidered my proposition? Do you want to be young forever?" Chris questioned.
I thought for a moment and moved closer to him. I realized that this way the only way.
"Yes, I want to be young forever," I answered.
"That's great! I was hoping that you'd say that, my love. I want to show you something...Follow me," Chris commanded.
I took his outstretched hand and followed him to the basement. It was an enormous room. (Like the mad scientist's lab in the old sci-fi movies) There were two huge machines in the center of the room.
"The one on the right makes the 'young' water and the one on the left makes the 'old' water," he explained.
"Can you show me how it works?" I questioned.
"Sure," he answered.
He slowly explained all the buttons to me. The machines made a lot of noise. He was explaining everything to me, when the phone rang. He gave me a quick kiss on the cheek and went to answer the phone. I studied the machines very carefully.

Chapter Six

Later that night, Chris took me out to dinner to make up for out lunch that was ruined. We went back to the restaurant in town. He ordered us a bottle or wine.
"Chris, I've been thinking about the spring water..." I began.
"You aren't having second thoughts, are you?" he asked.
"No, it's just...Well, maybe you could make some of out friends young again," I answered.
"Well, I could. I'll think about it...Who would you like me to make young again?" he questioned.
"Jen, Tim, and Mr. S...I guess you can't really do anything for Josh or Sara, could you?" I replied.
"That's an interesting possibility...Bringing people back from the dead. I suppose that pouring 'young' water on their grave could do the trick. I'm not sure though," he rambled.
"So you can bring Josh...And Sara back!" I exclaimed with hope.
"Maybe," he answered. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to use the restroom."
Chris left the table. I sat there thinking about the possibilities. Could he really bring them back from the dead?
He came back and we enjoyed our dinner. All I could think of was the possibility of him bringing back Josh, and of course Sara. We were laughing at some joke, when he looked down at his hand. It was all wrinkly. He felt his head and found it bald.
"What the hell?" he questioned.
"I couldn't control my laughter any longer.
"You...You did this to me. You bitch!" he shouted.
"Chris, I had no choice, but you do...I have the antidote right here. You can have it, if you promise me that you will turn everyone back," I responded calmly.
" I can't promise that...Besides I don't need you. I have plenty more at home!" he exclaimed as he rushed out of the restaurant.

Chapter Seven

Chris rushed into his "lab" and found it empty. He was dumbstruck. What had happened to all of his things?
"Lose something?" a voice questioned him.
He turned around and saw me standing in the doorway.
"How did you...How did you do this?" he questioned.
"Well, it's very simple. Remember how you took that little nap this afternoon? I snuck out and showed Jen and Tim how this water works. Then I changed them back. They helped me get rid of everything. Now, I have the only vile of the antidote," I said with a smile of satisfaction.
"Well, I have the formula...I don't need..." he started to say.
"Oh, this formula," I interrupted pulling a piece of paper from my pocket.
"Okay, okay...What do I have to do? I'll do anything to get that vile," he pleaded.
"First you have to promise never to try anything like this again...Second, you have to come to terms with the fact that we're through," I replied forcefully.
"Anything...I promise!" he cried out as he aged more and more.
"I don't know...I guess," I responded holding the vile out for him.
He reached for it, but I pulled it back. It couldn't let him have it that easily.
"Wait, just a minute...I can't give in that easily. You should suffer like everyone else has," I said with anger.
"Please, Amanda. I promise...As a matter of fact, we can go into business together. We'll sell the 'young' water. Everyone will be young forever," he reasoned.
"No, Chris! No more fucking with people's lives!" I shouted.
"Okay, okay...No more I promise," he insisted.
"Okay, Chris. I believe you. I know you did this out of love, but i can't love you anymore...Wait, I don't know if you should get off scott-free. Well maybe..."
I slowly glided my hand, that held the vile, toward Chris, and then I hesitated a moment.

Jen, Tim, and I passed the antidote out to everyone in town. In no time, they were all young again. We also decided to try out Chris' theory about bringing people back from the dead. It worked, so we brought backk all our friends, including Josh and Sara. What happened to Chris?, you ask. Well, you will just have to find out for youself.
