Just a bit of genetic engineering and a few major surgeries way ahead of the time period and what do you have? Find out below.

This was it. The construction had just finished two days ago and people were already starting to move out. The last person that needed the surgery was on the table before him waiting for me to sew him up now that his surgery was finished. I grabbed my needle and began to sew up the left side of his neck first, moving onto the right side only when I saw the seams begin to disappear. I finished the right side and turned him in his chair to face me.

"So, Nime, are you ready to go? It's almost time that the building crews will be demolishing this forsaken place. Do you have much to pack?" I asked the man before me.

"My family is all but ready to move out but I'm in no hurry to get home. I want to savor as much of my old life as I can before we leave it forever. It just seems weird, I mean, why do we have to do this?" Asked the child in front of me.

"We are relocating due to the expansion of the rest of the world. We are many, many seasons ahead of them. We wish to withhold our technology because of the impact it would have on the rest of the world. We are hiding ourselves away where we're going because we know that they lack the technology to find us now. In the future, they may develop enough technology to find us but, just as we are now, we will be far more advanced and be ready to protect ourselves or hide away. Does that answer your question?" I looked at the door as I asked this. As much as I wanted to retain my polite disposition, I urgently needed to leave to oversee the evacuation.

"Yes sir, that answers my question." We could have at least tried to merge first. Moving underwater is just so stupid. I heard his thought as he stood up and walked out the door.

I put the tools into a sanitary basin so that my assistant could wash them and pack them for the evacuation. We tried to integrate the rest of the world to ours and it failed, resulting in the extinction of three different species. The fool has no right to question our motives. This has been planned for so many years. I walked out the door and looked one last time at the magnificent city that would soon be reduced to particles and join the surrounding dunes in their never-ending dance in the wind.

I moved from the beach into the paved streets of the city. It was magnificent what we had achieved in the few centuries that my race has been on this wonderful earth. They had three plus level homes and automobiles that ran on water. That was what had inspired my people to begin to migrate underwater. We discovered how to power just about everything we had with water. The only problem would have been building an entire civilization underwater and an air supply for it. We, being advanced people, saw this as completely illogical so we created an alternative. We can breathe underwater. My civilization got a mass surgery that put vents like the gills of a fish on the backs of our necks and a bit of genetic engineering to allow these gills to pass down in generations to come without more surgery. These gills are water activated though, so we can breathe on land and water.

I finished his observation and walked along the beach to the equipment lined up along the shore that began to whine to life as he approached. I waved my hand and the machines rolled on, making little noise for such power beneath their shells. Great arms shot out from the seemingly seamless bodies with says, both steal and laser, battering rams and even an old fashioned wrecking ball. Massive beasts of machines trailed after them sucking up all the debris and grinding it to the size of sand particles. Everything would be gone in less then an hour.

I wrote this up eating three packs of gum and watching TV, perfect situation right? But seriously, you obviously read now review please. And expect more chapters in the future. It will get better.
