Virgin Snow
A Retelling of Snow White & Rose Red
Prologue

-…-

Since there's not help, come let us kiss and part;
Nay, I am done, you get no more of me;
And I am glad, yea, glad with all my heart,
That thus so cleanly I myself can free;
Shake hands for ever, cancel all our vows,
And when we meet at any time again,
Be it not seen in either of our brows
That we, one jot of former love retain.
Now, at the last gasp of love's latest breath,
When his pulse failing, passion speechless lies,
When faith is kneeling by his bed of death,
And innocence is closing up his eyes,
Now, if thou woulds't, when all have given him over,
From death to life Thou might'st him yet recover.

"Farewell to Love"
by Michael Drayton (1563 - 1631)

- Fall, 1597 -

The King was dying.

It was undeniable. He'd taken sick but the day before, but the extreme pallor of his face and the weakness of his body gave it away even more clearly than the doctor's diagnosis of poison. To his side he called his herald and most trusted friend, a man named Richard, and asked of him a favor like no other.

He asked him to take his newly born children, twin sons no older than two weeks, from his wife in the dead of the night, for surely it was she, the Queen, that had poisoned him and was to be the cause of his untimely death, and hide them safe in the next country.

Richard promised him this he would do, and that very night the King died.

Hey everyone, and welcome to Virgin Snow. This is a very twisted retelling of Snow White & Rose Red, so look forward to darkness abound. Love ya.
