Forbidden: Chapter One- Seasons' Meetings

Dedicated to my Imouto. This is for you and Haya-chan

On the one night all little children hold dear for the gifts of candy in their bags, jack-o-lanterns glowed golden with candles from within. The full silver moon offered some pale light on the dark night of Halloween along with the yellow street lamps. In an average looking house, two floors high, in a room of dark red walls, wicker furniture, and an iron four poster bed with sheer black cloth draped about, on the balcony past the French doors, what looked to be a little girl twirled about.

Her skirt flared out around her, made of silk and lace, embroidered with dark red thread. Patterns of roses traveled up. A corset made of crimson satin was around her waist, tied in front with black ribbon moving up to the rest of her top, covered in more black silk. The sleeves were edged with black lace as was her collar. Around her neck was a silver and onyx cross choker. Her ears sported crosses as well. Lips were adorned with a near burgundy color, but the peaking out of a white fang stood out clearly. Her skin was far from pale, but not completely dark. Eyes that were mysteriously dark were ready to lure in gazes. Her hair was done up in pigtails as innocent as could be. She ceased her twirling to jump back inside her room. A cape was tied around her neck, black outside, red inside; it finished her outfit as she pulled on her platform Mary Jane's over fishnet stockings.

As she grabbed her coffin purse, she stopped before the kitchen. There a young man stood, hair a mess all over and glasses covered his eyes. Vegetables met their fate at his knife for the evening's dinner. She attempted to sneak by, hoping to go unnoticed as he seemed busy.

"And where do you think you're going dressed like that on a night like tonight, Ai?" The girl now identified as Ai stopped in her tracks. The young man continued his work and did not turn around. "It's Halloween, I know, but still… A Vampire Lolita? Isn't that just asking for pedophiles? "

"Onii-san!" Ai objected. "I'm a big girl now! I'm fifteen going on sixteen! I can handle going to a Halloween party!"

"Nonsense. Besides, when did I agree?" There was a sizzle as something hit a pan to fry and started to smell rather nice.

"Oh just go Ai. Seto here is just sad that his little sister is growing up so fast," said another voice from behind Ai.

Ai turned around. "Touya onii-san!"

"That's right," replied Touya. "Now just go. I'll hold down the fort with Seto. Those little buggers will not teepee our house this year!" he declared pumping a fist into the air.

Seto gave the two an annoyed look, especially his twin brother. Seto and Touya, although looking mostly the same, were exact opposites. Seto had the shorter hair, messy and all over the place as was his style, glasses, and was usually more serious about things. Touya was more laid back and let their younger sister get away with nearly anything. His long hair was tied back in a pony tail today.

"Arigato Touya nii-san!" shouted Ai before she ran out the door, cape flaring out behind her. Only the sound of a large slam indicated the little vampire Lolita had left.

"You know something bad is going to happen today," said Seto, still not looking up from his cooking.

Touya put an arm around Seto's shoulder as a brotherly gesture and looked over the other at what he was cooking. "Yay! Okonomiyaki! I want lots of squid and tuna!" shouted Touya.

"Gaki…"

Ai sped along to her destination. At the park, there was a huge Halloween party going on. She fully intended to enjoy herself that night. As the park neared, Ai paused for a moment to place her mask on her face. An elegant black mask, edged with lace, a bundle of black satin ribbon bows on the side, held there on a stick, decorated to match; it had taken Ai quite a while to make it. After composing herself, Ai walked confidently into the party. People dressed as witches, mummies, Frankenstein's monster, and many more things haunted the party that night. Some were dancing. Others were snacking at the candy and other foods. Games were available and some were having a blast at them. Ai calmly sat down at a table after retrieving some soda from the tray of a waiter dressed as a knight.

A quick survey of the scene prompted that no one was available to dance. Ai gave a sigh. Maybe coming had not been such a good idea. But as she was about to doubt herself further, a hand was extended to her. Golden eyes locked onto hers, making her feel swept away. The crimson hair of this young man was styled rough and messy, but around his forehead seemed to be a thin circlet made of black metals and what could have been plastic rubies, but they seemed real. His smile was more of a smirk as he wore what seemed to be a black tunic, arm guards and black drawstring pants. A sword was at his hip and boots on his feet. A cape was on his shoulders, kept on with a silver chain, it nearly swept the ground. It was an interesting getup. Not too original, but still decently different.

"And what are you supposed to be, sir?" asked Ai politely.

"A prince of all demons is what I am, but what are you?" responded the stranger, his fangs showing.

Ai looked at him with hidden interest from behind her mask. "Guess."

"I'd have to say, you were attempting to be a vampire girl. Although I must say, you look much more like a dark princess." The stranger touched his forehead and removed his circlet before placing it on Ai's head. "I believe this looks better on you than me."

"I'm flattered."

"I'm glad. Such people as you are a rarity." He took Ai's hand and kissed it.

Ai blushed instantly. This was an example of a gentleman. "You do me no justice."

"Then will you honor me with a dance? I hope to do you justice then."

The blush darkened. Not trusting herself to speak, Ai only nodded. Before she realized it, Ai was swept away into a Halloween waltz. She laughed and smiled eagerly as did her partner. It was a magical night to remember. The night was over before Ai would have liked it to be as she and the stranger sat beneath a tree, simply staring at stars. Ai checked her cell phone in her purse and nearly cursed.

"It's past my curfew. My brother is going to kill me…" Ai said before getting up. "I must take leave of you. Please excuse me, tonight was wonderful." She bowed and moved to leave before her arm was grasped.

"Your name?"

"Ai."

"Hayato."

With that, Ai's arm was released and she ran home. The lights were off. There was the chance that her brothers were asleep. Opening the door silently, she snuck in, but bumped into something a few steps in. Looking up with the moonlight, she saw the face of her brother Seto.

"Hey onii-san! What's up?" Ai asked, looking for a way out of trouble.

"Bed. Now," commanded Seto. "You've got lots of things to do tomorrow. Training first thing in the morning."

"Yes Seto nii-san," said Ai as she trudged up the stairs.

"You met someone, didn't you?"

Ai turned to look at her brother. Seto's eyes were scanning, searching, he already knew the truth.

"Hai."

"Don't see them again. They're not good for you or this family. You'll know why soon enough."

"Demo!"

"No. Now bed."

"Hai…"

Yo folks. Yeah, it's a different story. I'm sorry! But my imouto demanded, and I owed her a full story, so this is it for her. I promise my other story will be updated soon! I actually have the chapter somewhere near done. But it's long. I refuse to cut it down. So just wait a little longer, and have some fun with this story, ne?
