The Twins
(A/n: This is a poem that I was forced to write by my English teacher last year and she submitted it to a Barnes and Noble poetry contest in which I won honorable mention! I was so excited b/c writing for me is a guilty pleasure, something I do for me and only I read my works usually. But I figure that if the judges thought it was great, then it must be kinda okay for you guys to read. So enjoy (hopefully)!)
Old enough to be terrors
But young enough to not understand
Six in the morning is not a time to be up
When you are three years old
But undoubtedly, undeniably, unavoidably
They call my name in the morning
They are up all hours of the night
Bashing away at all kinds of toys
No matter what hour they go to bed
Six in the morning is their wake up time
And undoubtedly, undeniably, unavoidably
They call my name in the morning
They go through the day with endless energy
While I drag on through school, fighting fatigue
Six in the morning is not a good time for me to wake up
When I have to study Algebra 2 and the history of the world
And undoubtedly, undeniably, unavoidably
They call my name in the morning
My noisy little neighbors are really caring
They wouldn't want me to miss the bus in the morning
What if my alarm clock failed to wake me?
Maybe they are just trying to assure my awakening?
And undoubtedly, undeniably, unavoidably
They call my name in the morning
