Realm Wars
Part I
Chapter Five

"Come, come. Sit down." Omsil stood up and pushed White back onto his seat.

Kuro passed him a glass of red wine and White put the glass to his lips. He tipped it over and drank it all down, all while deeply in thought. Was there really magic in the world? His eyes could fool him anyway.

"That's a good boy." Kuro took a piece of tissue and dabbed at White's lips.

"Huh?"

"You just drank father's blood." Kuro laughed.

White stared at the emptied glass and almost fainted.

"Was it nice? I added sugar to sweeten it. It would be bitter if I haven't. Father's very old and blood of old people is very bitter."

"You guys are vampires?"

Omsil sat back in his chair, greatly amused. "There aren't vampires. Never was, never will. Don't go referring magic to any stupid stuff in the fantasy stories you have read. It's a totally different thing."

He straightened his back and tuck in into his food. White did the same.

"So, tell me. Do you feel stronger? Or anymore livelier?"

White nodded, when he had drank the "red wine", he had felt something like a wave rushing through him, warming him all over.

"Good. It seems that my blood has awoken the magic in you. It's beginning to work, you should be immortal by tomorrow."

"Immortal?"

"Yea. It's different from a deity. Immortal just means that you won't die of old age. Like me and Kuro."

White wondered at the thought of never-aging and seemed to like it.

"Two questions. First, if I am Lord Sather, how come I was born into a family. Second, how old was Kuro when she became an immortal."

"Mortals love to question others. You should shake this bad habit of yours away soon. I had extracted your essence out of the stone, but I was unable to revive you, for you have no body of flesh and blood. So, I chose the right family of mortals and impregnated the woman. Don't get any dirty thoughts into your mind. Your father and mother were trying to conceive for quite a long period. I came along and merely sent your essence into her. Kuro was sixteen years old when I immortalized her. She served me and was my god-daughter for centuries. I sent her to watch over you. Then when the opportunity came to take you away from your world, we seized it."

"Okay. So let me summarize it all up. I'm getting confused. I am half of Lord Sather, some Homo Erectus long ago and a powerful mage. The first Realm War killed him and removed magic from our world. Now the enemy is coming back again, stronger and more powerful, enough to break away the barrier that some god had set? And I'm supposed to save the world?"

"More of less, yes. But you are not going to have to do this alone. You have Kuro and me. Most probably, Kuro will have to gather an army and equip them with magic. It's something bound to come along sooner or later."

"How long more do you think we will have before the barrier is broken down?"

"Three to four weeks." Omsil replied gravely. "So I suggest you stop asking questions. Get down to the task. We have not much time. You have to set out to gather magic and weapons, master them and Kuro has to build an army. Meanwhile, I will try to prolong the time before the barrier is broken down."

"How are you going to do that?" Kuro asked worriedly.

Omsil shrugged. "Burn part of my vital energy away? I can recover that fast and I have accumulated quite a lot."

"Father, that will kill you."

"Not if I use a small part of it. Leave this topic alone. I have to start teaching Lord Sather the basics. Come with me, my lord."

Omsil stood up, wiping his mouth with a handkerchief. White did the same and strode behind Omsil. He was led into a great hall.

"This, my lord, is the Ceremonial Hall of the Dragon Clan. It is where we had celebrated the many victories, births and significant events that occurred. You, Lord Sather, was the powerful and good leader that had ruled and reigned over thousands of Dragon clan members."

"Are there any other clans?"

"Yes, of course. The Dragon clan is not the sole clan in the world. There are others but I'm proud to announce that we were the strongest clan and that was the reason why I had survived the war. Each clan has two special weapons or armor that summons great magic. If I am not wrong, they are still in existence. I have two in my safe-keeping which I will pass to you when the time is ripe. I will give you some advice in order for you to find and gain possession of the other clan weapons. There are two other clans, which means four weapons not recovered. You will find them useful in the upcoming war. Each clan hall has also enormous mass of magic that has been accumulated by the clans. Absorb one of them and your might will be increased. I have the Dragon orb. After I train you, you must seek the other two orbs."

"This is a lot to do in three weeks. I'm not sure whether I can accomplish it in time."

"Have confidence, Lord Sather. Do not lose faith, the fate of our world lies in your hands. Every second is precious. We must start training now. Magic, once the basic energy of our world, is easy to master. For you, at least. The hardest part is to accumulate magic but that is solved, considering the amount of essence you have embedded in you."

"Why?"

"You were once a powerful mage. It is already in you. Your other half has done the hard work already, millenniums ago. Now, to summon or use a magic, it all depends on your will. I can sense your strong will. The next part will be actually the mastering of spells. It will be harder, of course."

"Omsil?"

"Yes, Lord Sather?"

"White, just call me White."
