- Lemon Lip Balm -

First day back from the Winter holidays and when I should have been worrying about the workload and new pastoral care teacher, all I could think of was how to avoid people noticing my shiny lips.

See, I had a cold-sore over the holidays, and was using the very same lemon lip balm. Now the cold-sore had disappeared but my lips did not feel totally redeemed and so for the last day I was wearing lip balm. I had never worn any sort of glossy substance on my lips to school before. Not even Vaseline. But, unfortunately, today had to be an exception.

I kept my head down as I walked through the crowded hall, towards my locker when someone bumped into me. I looked up to see none other than Jack, looking back at me- my lips to be precise. Too late about walking off now, he had seen the balm and now he was most probably going to make some snide comment about it, making sure every living being had heard and laughed it down. Why else would he be staring at my lips as if it were a soccer goal?

There was nothing else to do, so I just stared back at him, waiting. That's when he grabbed my shoulders, bent his head towards mine and begun to lick my lips, before lightly sucking on my bottom, then top lip. I could hear wolf whistling around me, but we were oblivious to it. Then Jack pulled back, gazing back at me. He grinned.

"Lemon. Nice," and with that he walked off.

I couldn't help thinking to myself, "I should wear lip balm more often, maybe strawberry, next time."
