BIG BROTHER

Authors Notes: I'm not a conspiracy theorist. I just think society has more control over us than we realise.

Smack, a new life brought into the world. The doctor hands the child to the nurse to clean up as the parents wait expectantly. As the child is gently lowered into his mothers arms tears of joy stream down every face in the room save the medical professionals. The mother briefly tears her eyes away from the small bundle to look into her husband's eyes. "What do you think he will be?"

Somewhere far away a voice whispers, "Whatever we want him to be."

All eyes are returned to the child, so perfect and new with such potential. The father gently replies, "Whatever makes him happy."

Somewhere far away a voice whispers, "Only if we let him be."

"He'll go to the best schools and meet the best friends," the mother coos.

Somewhere far away a voice whispers, "The type that we approve of."

"Our son, Ryan is born." The words bring joyous murmurs to life. The child has a name. The child has so much potential. The child has so much life ahead of him.

Somewhere far away a voice whispers, "Another blank page is born."
