Why did you take away the dark?

The light burns my fingertips.

Throw the blanket once more over me; cover me back up.

Lay me down, and leave me alone.

I wasn't ready for your world, your world of light and touch, not after you left me. Left me like a broken toy.

I'm not broken, just sad,

Can't you see the slate colored tears painted on my cheeks?

When you decided to take me back out, and blow the dust out of my face, out of the eyes that only close when you tip me back. Please tip me back.

When you decided to hug me again.

Now the light has completely destroyed me. And even though it's too late, throw the blanket back on me,

Because I wasn't prepared.
