Chapter 8

Three days later, and it was time to go home.

All charges on us Tom and I were dropped and we were no longer was just another step closer to acceptance. However, it didn't stop people from staring at us warily.

We were all at the airport when we said our goodbyes to Claire, Blaine and Sarah. However, we had a good hour before Tom, Sophie's and my flight, so we spent some time together.

"So, you didn't really answer before," Tom said, "how did you beat White?"

I looked down and stifled a smile. "Well, honestly I don't know. He was winning, and then all of a sudden, he was on his knees. I remember a large bolt of lightning coming from the sky struck me and sent me flying backwards. After that, I thought I was dead for sure. Then I started getting a mean headache and apparently, it made my powers stronger. I don't know."

Sophie said, "Maybe it was the lighting that hit you. Maybe you somehow absorbed its power or something, and it made you stronger."

I shrugged.

"Maybe it was severe emotional distress." Tom said.

"What?" I gave him a weird look.

"You know. Maybe you thought you were going to die, you thought that maybe everyone else was going to die. Then you subconsciously channeled all the energy and rage you had in your body and beat White with it. And those headaches, maybe they were a side effect. You know, your body trying to get used to all the power. Like an overload."

"That was unusually in depth." Sophie said.

He shrugged in reply.

I checked my watch and it was 10:14AM. My flight was at 10:30.

"Hey guys, I better go." I told them.

They nodded.

"Alright, I'll see you guys later. Keep in touch." I hugged them both and went to my gate.

Author's Note: Ah, the completion of the first story in the Thunderstrike series. I already have many, many plot ideas for many, many more stories. However, this leaves me at a crossroad. Do I start on the next Thunderstrike? Or do I work on The Predators: Gateway?

About the explanation of Jason's magnified powers. I actually have no explanation for it and I'm probably just going to leave it as it is. My original idea was to make Jason nearly lose, and then have Sophie escape somehow and save the day. I changed my mind though; it would be too hard to explain because if she did escape and save the day, I would have to explain why she didn't escape earlier, etc. What I AM (probably...) going to do, however, is make finding the source of the magnified powers a subplot in one of the sequels.

For now, I'll just stick with the explanation Tom said.

So, what's the final verdict on this story guys? Also, leave in your reviews what you think I should work on first, the next Thunderstrike or the next Predators.

Thanks for all of your reviews.
