Fairytale Illusions
This is a world
I never thought I'd see
And I wonder now if I am looking
Through my own eyes or another's
No sunny picnic or roller coaster
Could be better than this
Where my own thoughts
Are entangled in a forest of vines
And nothing could make me care less
'Cuz all I need to think of now
Is the smell of your cologne
Flowing through my veins
A network of sensation
That this ruby gem controls
Beating in sync with your fingers
As you drum them on the table
We're speeding now
Fast as the light you bring me
This stormy confusion
Thunder as my rumbling nerves
Because you've made me
A system of paranoia
And now I'm afraid to blink
'Cuz I might lose sight of you
Or breathe and find
That your aroma is gone
Disappearing in the mist
And suddenly without warning
I feel drenched in everything
That you left behind you
'Cuz now I'm starting to think
That you were a fairytale
Like Jasmine and Aladdin
Only I can't find my magic lamp
And there's no genie here
In this empty room
To save me from this void
And I can feel my eyes strain
As I peer through the darkness
Finding nothing but a mirror
Of the emotions swirling inside me
And I wish that I could feel
That sparkle again
Because I love the way
You looked at me
And made me think
That there was only us
In this fairytale world
But illusions scarcely last
And you thrust me back
As soon as my traits grew old
Into this whirling abyss of reality
