Missing Pieces
He told her that she was an enigma;
A puzzle missing all of the pieces,
But somehow gave him hope
That he'd find the missing pieces
And solve the unanswerable riddle.
She told him that the pieces were gone;
That they would never be found again,
But he made a vow to them both,
That one day the pieces would be found
And that the gaps would be filled.
He said that she was full of mysteries,
All of which he was going to solve,
But she merely smiled and shook her head
And knew that he wouldn't win the battle
For she had long forgotten her own answers.
She said that she'd let him fight for the pieces
Though she didn't expect him to find them,
But when he offered to help her remember,
She took his hand and smiled to him,
And gave him a look into her thoughts.
