ETERNITY IN AN HOUR

- Alihotsy -

To see a world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand
And eternity in an hour.

The voices were nothing but a blur now, leaving faint traces of comprehension in the minds of those around them. The clock was ticking faintly in the background, its slender hands making their routine rounds yet again. A thin sheet of paper fluttered gently to the floor only to be stepped on as a young man walked swiftly past.

Tick.

He was a curious boy. His expression carefully blank and hair parted quite smartly to the side. He cautiously, steadily made his way towards the glowing yellow vending machine.

Tock.

Splash! "Opf!" The boys stride was abruptly broken as he slipped on his classmates spilled juice. Apologizes immediately left the young girls mouth. Her pony tail swung as she went to help him up, whipping him in the face. Another apology.

Tick-Tock.

The boys hair was no longer tidy and the sheet of paper was now glued to his sweater with the juice. His eyes were very wide now and the girl seemed to be looking at him strangely.

Tick.

Why was she staring at him like that?

Tock.

The boy was now looking at her strangely.

Tick-Tock.

Their eyes met in a confused gaze. And time seemed to stop.

A/N: A little drabble I wrote in Study Hall. Title and quote are both from William Blake's, Auguries of Innocence.
