Chapter 2
The Impatient Sword
"Where are they?" the man demanded, pacing back and forth across the stone pathway. It was a very nice day out, the sun was shining and the temperature was just so, a perfect day to sit in the park and relax.
That's what any sane person would think, but nope Sword was just a matter on to himself. Wonder would it really be such a bother if I just took him out, it would probably be better for the world. In fact I could be doing the world a favor. All this came from the thoughts of a very annoyed 18-year-old girl.
She was lounging back in one of those somewhat uncomfortable park benches. Not the wooden kind that are slightly more comfortable, but the horrible metal ones. Her choppy dirty blond hair fell only to about her chin and looked like it had been hacked off using a knife, which incidentally it had. Her sapphire eyes were glaring at the pacing man who kept going back and forth, back and forth in front of her.
Said man was about 6'0 tall and had very little patients. If any body were a minute late he would have a mental break down. His curly brown hair luckily took most of the brunt of his impatience. He had this habit of running his fingers through it whenever he was impatient or anxious or well he did it a lot for really nothing. It just seemed to be another one of his annoying habits. His redeeming factor was that he had pretty gray eyes. That was it everything else sucked. Yet somehow it was her luck to be stuck with him until one of them died and hell they weren't even married.
"What, do you expect me to know where they are?" she asked a bit irritably. She had been in his presence for all of ten minutes, and already she regretted that she had decided to be on time for once. Never going to make that mistake twice. His gorgeous gray eyes turned to glare at the her. It was unfair that such beautiful eyes had to be on such a horrible man, poor, poor eyes.
"Damn it Knife, could you stop being such an annoying-"
"Sword, it's not nice to say such things to a lady," a man's voice murmured, interrupting Sword's dialogue, which would have eventually gone into an all out war.
Knife glanced towards him. He was even taller then Sword being 6'7. In fact he was the tallest man that she had ever met. Also the coldest, he was a very emotionless man, rarely did you ever see him smile or get angry or anything that could remotely say that he was human. But he was damn well gorgeous. His eyes were the color of coal, they were sharp and held an immense amount of intelligence. And his hair, his hair was…well their truly wasn't any way to describe it for handsome would simply be an understatement. It was that deep sinful black that was almost blue. Oh and it was so long, going to just about his shoulders, perfect to run your fingers through, and it was the most softest thing that she had ever felt. She had accidentally touched it once, shortly after they had met, and she had never wanted to stop touching it. That was how soft it was. Oh why did he have to keep it in that stupid ponytail?
Now only if there was a man with Sword's eyes, Saber's hair and a combo of their bodies then that would be the perfect man. For Sword's was a bit more muscular then Saber's. But Saber's had a great sort of thin lanky look, like a swimmer's, ya that was his body. Now wonder where I could find a combo of the two, Knife thought dreamily.
"What lady?" Sword smirked, looking over to where Knife was day dreaming.
Course with that comment, her daydream went right out the window. She glared at him and debated which way was the best way to kill the man. Decapitating would be so much fun, but dangling him by his ankles would cause a much longer lasting pain. Choices, choices, it really was a very hard choice to make, they both sounded very tempting.
"Saber where have you been," the man was a freak, Knife thought. He's still obsessed with the whole time thing.
"I decided to walk," Saber said casually, then started to walk towards a bench that was opposite of where Knife was sitting. He didn't like to be near people, he didn't like many things really. Knife was just assuming these things, cause he seemed to avoid lots of things. Like human contact for one. When she had accidentally touched his hair that one time he instantly had jerked away from her. He had glared at her like she had just committed a mortal offence against him. It took two whole days for him to talk to her without ice lacing his every word.
"Walk, of course cause we all know that walking would get you here on time," Sword told him angrily. Why couldn't any one be on time, he thought. They were all against him, just cause he liked being punctual. Yep, that was it, they were all against him.
Saber didn't give any indication that he was even listening, in fact he closed his eyes and it seemed like he was going to go to sleep. It did seem like a nice time to take a nap, Knife thought, getting a bit sleepy herself. She could just close her eyes for a bit, the twins weren't even there yet.
Sword on the other hand felt no urge to take a nap. He wanted to go out and start searching. They were way behind. They had yet to find the sixth warrior and worst of all they hadn't even found the Prophecy. What sort of protectors could they be if they didn't even know where their Prophecy was.
He was a bit tired though, pacing could ware a man down. But still it was with a bit of reluctance that he sat down on the bench that Knife was sitting on. He lounged back and tried to calm down. A few minutes wasn't gong to kill him. In fact it could be beneficial to them all, he could probably think more clearly if he was calm. Maybe, he wasn't so sure about that, but hell he had been up since 10 a.m. yesterday morning he deserved a bit of a rest now and then. With that he closed his eyes wearily, he would just rest them, he wasn't going to go to sleep, he was just resting…
Dagger had so hoped that she had lost them. Her eyes looking at the two twin boys who quickly paid the bus driver and headed directly towards her. Breath Dagger, breath, you need to breath in order to live. If they were going to hurt you they would have done so earlier. Plus you are on a public bus, there were witnesses, they would never kill her if there were witnesses.
Dagger closed her eyes when one of them sat next to her. Please, make them go away. 'There's no place like home, there's no place like home, there's no place like home' she kept thinking, and tapping her heels together. Don't let me be on the bus, don't let me be on the bus, she prayed desperately.
Slowly ever so slowly she opened her eyes. She breathed a sigh of relief all she could see was blue, nothing but blue, no twins, just blue. Ok, so she couldn't just stare at her jeans forever, but hey it made her feel better. Dagger then started to look up, and was not surprised to see one of the twins staring at her from the seat in front of her. He should face the opposite way, really that was the way chairs were meant to be sat in. She then turned to look to her left, to see the other twin staring at her.
"In order to breathe you must inhale," Dagger inhaled, glad to be able to feel air going safely to her lungs once more.
"Then you must exhale," this from the other twin. The situation might have been funny, if she wasn't following their directions. She really must be stupid if she had forgotten how to do such a thing as breath. Really she was over reacting; seriously, they probably never did all those things that the other students said that they had done. Right their another level of sanity as returned.
"You're a weird one, that's for sure Dagger," Arrow told her, he was the one sitting next to her.
"We didn't mean to scare you or anything." Bow added, it seemed more like an after thought then an apology.
"We just never got to finish up our conversation from earlier."
"Yes and it was a very important conversation too,"
Dagger glanced from one to the other. Were they really talking about the conversation about her birthmark? They couldn't be serious, how could that be important.
"How could a talk about my name and how I was named be of any great importance?" she questioned them. They yet again exchanged glances. Dagger wished that they wouldn't do that, it was starting to annoy her.
"What the real question is how could it not be important," Bow told her, sounding a bit exasperated.
"Course we can't really tell you with out the other's. They actually told us not to."
"Said that they didn't trust us."
"How could they not trust us?" Arrow said angrily.
"They think we would mess up the whole thing," Bow added just as angrily as his brother had.
Dagger was so lost. She wasn't even sure what they were talking about. Or who for that matter. Who didn't want the twins to tell her something? And why would the twins have something to tell her, after all they had just met.
"I'm so lost," Dagger whispered more to herself then to Bow and Arrow. But they both heard her and responded accordingly.
"And you should be, it's very confusing at the beginning. Me and Arrow were in disbelief, and very confused." Bow nodded sympathetically at her.
"But luckily enough you have us to deal with instead of the crazy Sword. Definitely better us then him, he's a bit eccentric." They both looked lost in thought for a second, then both snapped out of it at the same time. Man they were a bit freaky, Dagger thought.
"I guess we can't leave her in the dark, that would be a bit unfair." Arrow told his brother, and Bow nodded his head in agreement.
"But first things first, can we see your mark?" they both looked at her eagerly. Dagger wasn't so sure about them. But well what could it hurt, the more time that she passed in their company; it seemed less likely that they would use any thing that she told them against her.
So she pulled up her right leg so that they would have a better view. She then pushed her sock down and lifted her jeans a bit to show them the mark, slightly above her ankle. It really didn't look that bad, in fact if she didn't know any better she would say that it was a tattoo rather then a birthmark. The twins leaned in a bit closer to get a closer look at it.
Dagger wasn't use to this much attention focused on her, especially on one particular point of her. Her face started to turn pink and she hurriedly pulled her sock back up and let her jeans fall back against her leg.
They both looked up at her and they were smiling. Then they did the annoying exchange glances thing. Dagger really was starting to despise that.
"Yep, we knew it. It's just like ours,"
"Well maybe not just like ours, Bow."
"You know what I mean. It's not a tattoo, that's for sure."
"Wait what do you mean just like yours?" Dagger asked startled. Did they really have a birthmark like hers? If so she wanted to see, it was only fair after all, she had shown her's, they should show theirs.
"Well we have a mark on our body just like yours well except in different places." Bow told her patiently.
Dagger blushed, ok maybe they didn't have to show her, and she really didn't need to see it that bad, she would take their word on it. No need to show, please don't show.
Both upon seeing her blush, instantly knew what she was thinking and they burst out laughing. It just caused Dagger to blush even more. She was positive that she was beat red by now. It was a few moments before either of them settled down to a semblance of normal.
"I didn't think that she was going to have the same thought process as us." Bow said still settling down his laughter.
"Yes, I thought that she might be more along the lines of Sword or Knife." Arrow muttered.
Dagger took that as a compliment. They were after all comparing her to them, and if they were insulting her, then they were really insulting themselves too.
"Here we can show them to you, in public too." Bow said, which caused a few more chuckles. Dagger smiled a bit herself, though she didn't find it as funny as they did. Once they had settled down again, Bow rolled up his left jacked sleeve and moved it so it was in front of Dagger.
She was shocked it was almost exactly like her's. Well it wasn't a dagger, but it was like the same thing. His was shaped in that of a bow. Not a ribbon or such like that, but a real bow. It was amazing and it had detail too, just like her's did. Wow, was all she could think.
"Wow," apparently it was all she could say as well. Bow pulled his arm back and rolled up his sleeve. Dagger then turned to look at Arrow wanting to see his as well.
Arrow turned away from her, so that his back was facing her. He then lifted up his shirt. At first it made her pink a bit, but then she saw the magnificent arrow running down his back. It was beautiful. She reached out a bit tentatively wanting to touch it, but a bit unsure if she could. She glanced at Bow, silently asking him if she could. He nodded his head; his eyes too were on the magnificent arrow. So Dagger reached out until she could touch his skin. She traced the whole arrow, before bringing her hand away. Arrow instantly returned his clothing back to its normal state once her hand left his back. His was much different then her's and Bow's. His ran the entire length of his back, while theirs was a bit small and could be easily covered. Only a shirt could cover his up.
"See just like we said, the same." They said at the same time.
It was then that they seemed to notice where the bus was. They seemed a bit worried to Dagger. But she wasn't sure why, maybe they had missed their stop. But she hadn't thought that they needed to take the bus that they had just been following her. They both turned to look back at her, they seemed a bit nervous to her.
"Look Dagger could you come with us for a bit. We actually have to introduce you to some people." Bow asked a bit hesitantly.
Startled all she could do was stare. She didn't even really know them and here they were asking her to go off somewhere with them to meet some more people that she didn't know. How could she do that, it just didn't seem very logical? She was about to tell them that she couldn't, when Arrow suddenly stood up as the bus started to pull to a stop. Dagger glanced out the window. She knew where she was, it was a public park that was about a few blocks from her house.
"We have to go this is our stop, Bow," he told his brother before once again turning to focus his green eyes on her. "Will you please come with us, we're most likely just going to be in the park, and that's in plain view of people." He asked. Bow stood up as well, waiting for her to reply.
Dagger really wasn't sure. They both really wanted her to go and like they had said the park was in plain view. Then there was the fact that if she wanted to leave she would no how to get home from here. It couldn't hurt really and for once, maybe she didn't think too much about everything.
And so with that thought in mind she stood up with them and walked with them off the bus and into the park.
AN: There really isn't much to say is there, except that this is another end to another chapter.
