Chapter 3
In the Park
Dagger followed the twins down one of the many paths in the park. They didn't go far, for soon they came to a small area with a few benches in the shade. It was a nice cozy little area, a great place to relax. And it seemed that some people had already taken advantage of that fact. For two benches were occupied with, from the looks of it, three sleeping people.
It wasn't very smart to sleep out in the open, Dagger thought. She would never do that, she would worry too much about being robbed or something like that. Though she didn't have much, but the very thought would still never allow her to do what these three people seemed to be doing.
She glanced at the twins, they both had smiles across their faces. They seemed to find the situation very amusing. These must be the people that they wanted her to meet. Well really who else could it be? They seemed to be the only people in the park that day. Which was very strange, for normally on a nice day like this you would think that it would be crowded.
It was then that both Arrow and Bow started to walk over to the bench that held the man and woman. Dagger didn't like the looks on their faces. They were probably going to do something horrible to wake them up. Maybe she should stop them. But then again it was really none of her business. But still Dagger would have hated to be awakening in a rude matter and they most likely wouldn't like it either. She should really try and stop them. Instead she just stood there looking at them as they got closer to the two on the bench. She really did have every intention of stopping them, really she did. She just suddenly lost the ability to move that's all.
"Your late," the voice made all three of them jump in surprise. It was the voice of the male that had been sitting on the other bench. Dagger turned still a bit shaky to stare at the man. His eyes were still closed and Dagger wondered if he had been awake the whole time.
The twins were just as shocked, but they only turned to glare at the man. They of course didn't appreciate being stopped in their diabolical waking up scheme. Ok, she had been watching too many morning cartoons. Come on diabolical, nobody used that word except on one of those silly cartoons.
"Damn it Saber must you always ruin our fun," Bow demanded.
"And so we have a very good reason to be late," Arrow added smirking at the man called Saber.
"What the hell-" Dagger jumped in start as another voice joined the conversation. Dagger wished that they wouldn't do that, they should give some warning.
This time though it was from the other guy. Both he and the woman next to him seem to be awake now. And neither seemed too happy about it. In fact the man jumped up from his seat and started walking towards the twins. It did not seem good for the twins. Though the woman she just reclined a bit more into the bench, while still keeping an eye out on her companion.
"Now Sword…" Bow started, walking backwards away from the man.
"…it's not like we meant to be late." Arrow followed his brother's example.
Sword seemed to be ignoring the twins and was still coming towards them, the odds didn't seem good for them. Dagger was glad of course that she was just a bystander watching. Of course with her luck she happened to have been standing somewhat behind the twins and so they were backing up towards her. She being the oh so smart person that she was just stood their and stared as the three of them backed up more and more towards her.
It didn't take them long to reach her and like the gentleman that they were they did the only thing that they could. They used her as their shield. One grabbing onto each of her shoulder's and twisting every which way to keep Sword away from them. He looked furious that they were using such childish tactics and tried to get around her.
"Damn you two stop hiding behind a girl and face me like a man." He growled.
"Sword you seemed troubled, whatever is wrong?" Arrow asked sounding concerned still making sure to stay behind Dagger.
"You know exactly what's wrong," he made a swipe to the left, trying to make a grab for Bow.
"I do, I didn't know that I did," he sounded generally surprised.
"I mean you can't be this mad at us being late," Bow looked a bit startled.
"Do you not recall my words to you last night?" Sword asked as he stopped moving and just stood in front of Dagger.
"Umm…not really," they said.
"Well let me refresh your memory," he said calmly, way to calm for Dagger's comfort. She tried to escape the twins grasp, but they held onto her pretty tight. " I said 'If you two dare to be late, I shall kill you and slice you up into little tiny pieces."
"Oh now I remember," Bow murmured into her ear.
"Ya, didn't you say what's the point of cutting us into tiny little pieces if we're already dead?" Arrow whispered. Bow nodded, and they both started to laugh. Really not the best choice of action to do in this sort of situation. Sword didn't think so either cause he lunged at them.
Dagger vaguely wondered if there were any smart people left in the world. She thought this while she fell under the pressure of a 6'0 foot tall man, who was no lightweight. It might have been bearable if it had only been him. But she had the twins behind her, which one would think would have made the landing softer. Wrong, she fell partially on one and partially on the other and left some space in the middle. Which when added with a very large man made a very painful fall.
"Fuck," was the relative word out of the men's mouth, while Dagger just groaned. Maybe she could go home now. It was a few more groans later they were all relatively sitting up and thoughts of death were put aside.
"I didn't think that you could get any stupider, Sword," the woman's voice called over. She was definitely laughing at him. If he noticed he gave no sign of it.
"Can I go home now?" she asked the twins. It might have been better if she hadn't said anything at all, cause suddenly all eyes were suddenly on her. They didn't really look all that friendly.
"Who is she," this came from the man called Saber.
The twins stopped there moaning and looked ecstatic to be asked that question. They even said so.
"I'm glad you asked dear Saber." Bow stated gleefully.
"Yes, indeed. You will be most excited to here who she is," Arrow smiled at the rest of them, and then smirked at Sword.
"Just get to the damn point," Sword muttered.
"Of course Sword, wouldn't want to delay this." Bow was way too happy, Dagger thought.
"But first shouldn't you introduce yourselves properly to our young friend." Arrow said with a nod. Dagger thought that it was a bit pointless since she had already heard all of their names already. But she didn't say anything about it and just let the twins handle the whole thing. After all it was their friends not her's.
"For not wanting to delay this you sure are taking an awfully long time," Knife called out from the bench.
"Well if you don't want to know then I guess we could just let her go home," Arrow sighed dramatically.
"Fine let her go home," Knife replied. Both the twins were shocked and stared at her like she had said something very offensive.
"Send her home," Bow gasped.
"We would never be forgiven," Arrow whispered.
"We would be yelled at," Bow continued.
"We would be harassed,"
"How could we do that,"
"After all the work we had done,"
"Just to get her here,"
"An inconvenience to her,"
"And you just want to send her home," this they said at the same time both in their shocked voices and Dagger found it hard not to laugh.
"You two are annoying and we shouldn't give in to your silly little whims. We have things to do, send her home so we can get some work done." Sword told them his patience finally gone.
"I'm Saber," Dagger glanced at the other man. He was still seated on the bench and still he hadn't opened his eyes. It didn't really seemed that he cared very much about the things that had been happening. Maybe he thought that they were an immature bunch of children. Wonder how they had all met? They all seemed like a vastly different group of people.
"Don't do that Saber, we really need to work, not entertain the twins new toy." Sword growled standing up and walking away from them.
Dagger was hurt and a bit insulted. He didn't even know her and he was just assuming that she was just some guy's toy. Why did people have to be so cruel? Maybe she should just go home. After all Darek and Daisy would be needing her soon. They wouldn't be mean and tell her mean things. No they liked her.
"Sword don't be cruel," Knife told him harshly.
"Ya, Sword you don't even know her," Bow added.
"And she's not our toy. She's a girl from our new school and she's special." Arrow glared at the still angry Sword. "Her name is Dagger, she's just like us."
Dagger watched a bit embarrassed as all of them started staring at her. What is with people why do they always have to stare? Don't they know that it's rude to stare at somebody. To make matters worse nobody seemed inclined to tell her what was so important about her that they all had to start staring at her. The silence was really starting to become a bit uncomfortable, and Dagger could feel her face becoming red once more.
"Are you sure?" Sword asked finally and both the twins nodded.
"And to think Sword you just insulted the last warrior. Guess that means four of us hate you. You're just a lucky one aren't you, Sword," Knife grinned at the man.
"Shut up," Sword muttered.
After listening to them for the past minutes are so, Dagger was getting more and more confused. She had no idea what they were talking about and what in the world it had to do with her. She wasn't even sure that she had time to stay and listen. Darek and Daisy would be arriving home soon. Normally Dagger would have an hour to herself before they came home from school. And she was sure that she was running out of time.
"I'm not really sure what's going on, but I have to get going now." She told them. All of their eyes once again refocused on her. Though this time she ignored them in favor of getting up.
"You can't go," Bow stated.
"We have to explain," Arrow said as both of them stood up.
"Yes, you have to stay," Sword reached out and grabbed her wrist, dragging her over to the bench that Knife was sitting at. He then shoved her down into the seat. "We must explain to you."
"So your going to explain our secrets out here in the open," Saber called out from his own seat. His eyes were open and they were staring intently at Dagger, though he was speaking with Sword.
At Saber's words, Sword started to frown. It was apparent that he hadn't thought about that. He was then lost to them, immersed in his thoughts. Dagger watched him, waiting for him to say something. She wished that he would hurry up. But it didn't seem like he was going to speak any time soon.
"We can just bring her to the ruins," Knife stated simply. "We would have had to show her any ways. Plus, that's where you explained every thing to the twins and me. You would think that you would have remembered that." It was apparent that Knife thought that Sword was being an idiot. But if Sword heard her, he gave no sign of it, still wrapped up in his own mind.
"I don't think that he's listening to you, Knife." Bow pointed out.
"I can see that. But thank you very much for pointing out the obvious for me." Knife said sarcastically.
"Your welcome," Bow smiled at her. She frowned at him, unsure of weather or not he was just saying that to annoy her or if he generally thought she was seriously thanking him.
"But I have to go home." Dagger repeated.
"Fine, go. The twins shall bring you back here tomorrow. We then shall proceed to the ruins, where we can explain everything. Do plan to stay late. I would prefer to get it done in one sitting." Saber told her. He then stood up her and left the park. All of them stared at him as he left. Well except Sword, who really wasn't paying attention to anything anymore.
AN: Ok, so I have now decided that I do not like the title of this story and so I have changed it. But i'm also not very fond of this name either. I am up to hearing any suggestions for a new title.
